Why California will stay blue
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | November 8, 2010 | Jane Junn

While the rest of the nation went red in Tuesday's midterm elections, California emerged even bluer. What's going on?

The standard answer is that registered Democrats outnumber registered Republicans, and that many decline-to-state voters lean Democratic.

But there's a more telling reason, one that promises to keep California blue for years. The state's rising numbers of new voters - newly minted immigrant voters, minorities and voters between the ages of 18 and 29 - are overwhelmingly Democratic in their preferences.

would it be cool to one morning, say Febuary 18, 2011, off the top of my head. For many thousands of volunteers to just show up at the California border with shovels, jackhammers and other tools and separate it from the rest of country?

Kaleefornia will stay blue for the same reason that Maryland Stays blue. The entire state is controlled by the blood suckers and looney lefties that HEAVILY populate the cities and other densly populated areas.

There is no solution for this condition since it is self perpetuating. Quite simply, the TAKERS outnumber the GIVERS, 3 to 1.

You folks are contributing $40 million per day to California’s unemployment compensation fund. We wish to express our appreciation for this “loan” to our state. (Suckers) This sentiment is not mine but that of those up in the state capitol.

The problem is Cali is exporting political views, this could be fatal to neighboring states ....

That certainly used to be the case. However CA is now an economic basket case of the brink of a complete collapse. It's all ouyt in the open for everyone to see. Any state that emulates CA deserves it's fate.

Illegal immigrants voting, fraud at the poling sites and stuffing the ballot boxes with fraudulent ballots and it always seems to favor the democrats and their liberal initiatives. Dems are smart and everybody else is stupid, stupid for letting it get this bad. Why don't we make vote fraud a FELONY punishable by a minimum of 20 years in prison. Essentially vote fraud is TREASON against our democracy and it has and will continue to erode our liberties. IT IS SERIOUS and needs to be treated as such. A firing squad would work as well, oh yeah, then charge em for the bullet.

1) remember Gray Davis?
2) if the GOP was smart, they’d pick a conservative Hispanic to replace Jerry Brown. Look at New Mexico and Florida.

California will be in play again when they get back to basics. Demographics isn’t the problem the problem is the same that the North East has. If you aren’t able to articulate and argue for conservative principles effectively then the amount of money to have to spend won’t mean a thing. California had two top ticket candidates who both appeared unprincipled and soft so that even when they took a stand they could never benefit entirely for it. What we see is the result of letting the Democrats have California for so long uncontested in Presidential races. You have to give voters a choice and a compelling reason to vote for you. It isn’t gay rights and abortion or even immigration that is tripping the GOP up in California. Its the refusal to run like Reagan. It isn’t going to happen over night but we need more individuals like Van Tran and David Harmer who will go toe to toe with the Democrats even when they face disadvantages. If the GOP had truly inspiring top ticket candidates then the GOP would’ve did much better down ticket.

Interesting map. But I'm confused -- are the colors reversed? I thought the coastal cities were driving the "blue" liberalism and the inland areas were the "red" voters.

What conservatives out there have to do -- and really do it out of compassion -- is to be courageous, stay on message and be clear about what they stand for.

I really disagree. What consrervatives out there have to do is get the hell out! CA is lost and deserves to be.

California's Screamin'

We called on Jerry Brown
Though his hair is gray
'Cause he can talk the talk
Of the Greens and Gays

Poverty's the norm
In large parts of L.A.
California's Screamin'
To make it go away…

Stopped going to church
We passed more laws today
Well, we cut down Liberty
And taxed our wealth and pay

You know the leeching unions drove
All of our jobs away
California's Screamin':
Our debt, we'll never pay…

So call on Jerry Brown
He still lives by the Bay
Where you can’t take a walk
And smoke outside today

And yet illegal felons
Must have their vote and say
California's Screamin':
Is it still all right to pray?

You are right and the map is wrong. Unless “red” = “commie”.

This is my favorite interactive tool of the year. (You have to click thru an annoying ad.)

Select any county in CA and laugh (or cry).

RE: “The problem is, well for us in the other 49, we’ll be picking up California’s tab.”

******************

I’m in CA; many here on FR live in CA — some plan to leave; if I had a business or young family I’d leave. Instead I stay and fight, and go Galt to the extent possible.

I sincerely hope other states do NOT get stuck with CA’s bills — racked up because ‘voters’ are overwhelmingly leftwing nutjobs, govt. workers, union members, immigrants dragged into voting ‘blue’ with promises of more and more freebies.

This has been a LONG time coming and old Jerry Brown shares a good part of the blame for it though certainly not all. CA has been beckoning ‘takers’ of all types for decades now via its various policies — especially cheap prices for college for out of staters. Not good!

I say sell it to the Japanese and then after they have cleaned up the immigration problems, and they will, just repo it.
