Why California will stay blue
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | November 8, 2010 | Jane Junn

While the rest of the nation went red in Tuesday's midterm elections, California emerged even bluer. What's going on?

The standard answer is that registered Democrats outnumber registered Republicans, and that many decline-to-state voters lean Democratic.

But there's a more telling reason, one that promises to keep California blue for years. The state's rising numbers of new voters - newly minted immigrant voters, minorities and voters between the ages of 18 and 29 - are overwhelmingly Democratic in their preferences.

I switched the colors so they would make more sense...in my map, “red” = “Communist.”

"...newly minted immigrant voters, minorities and voters between the ages of 18 and 29..."

I've been saying this for quite some time. CA is dominated by political ignoramuses.

So stop with all the rants about CA already. As you can see, CA politics is totally schizoid. It's not that the majority of voters wants the world to come to an end, they just want free stuff.

Appeals to reason have no effect. We're dominated by idiots and the Democrats who love them. Case closed.

would it be cool to one morning, say Febuary 18, 2011, off the top of my head. For many thousands of volunteers to just show up at the California border with shovels, jackhammers and other tools and separate it from the rest of country?

Maybe it could be done, but you'll need more than shovels and jackhamers on the California/Nevada border, there is a 14,000' mountain range running right up the middle of the border.

In fact, Nevada's highest mountain is actually part of an even higher peak in California.

The bunch that likes to vote Democrat likes refrigerators and electric lights and televisions that come on when you hit the power button even more.

When CA allows a state-level version of cap and trade to go into effect, brownouts and blackouts are only a matter of time. IIRC, that was one of factors that resulted in Gray Davis being recalled. Moonbeam may suffer the same fate if he's not careful.

Well change them back. It is confusing. (Since blue now is “commie” not “patriotic”.) Either that or change the colors completely. Make “commie” pink or green or something.

"Hispanic" voters in L.A. county broke 2:1 for Brown over WHitman, then just voted for the rest of the democrats on the ballot. The so-called Independants tend to be social liberals who may or may not vote for a social conservative. The rest of the democrats along the coast are also social AND fiscal liberals, who will in no way vote for a Republican - social lib or not.

Democrat registration - 7.5 million
Republican - 5.3 million
Ind - 3.4 million

Therefore, Republicans have to get at least 66% of the Indies in a given race to win. A tall order for the social conservatives California Republicans usually run.

Until the Clintons came along, such was true for all US elections -- red was for Democrats and blue was for Republicans. A corrupt media changed it all for us; no one was consulted for permission. Read this:

And the Dems got all the young potsmokers out to vote for legalization. Next election they’ll probably put free college on the ballot. When the Big One hits, it won’t do as much damage as their horrible politics has done the past 25 years.

Back in the early 1960's, some anti-Communists tried to popularize the expression "pro-blue" as meaning pro-freedom, pro-West, and pro-America.

CA has twice the population of NY but 5 times the welfare cases. Now that the socialists have their voter base they should back off or lose all their power to bankruptcy.

Is it because the public school system is trying to dumb down the entire state to sub-Spicoli level?

I imagine that Kalifornia wants more teachers like Jack Black and less like Mr. Hand

My only question is: “How long will it take Gov Moonbeam to ask for a bailout?” Will it be in his inauguration speech?
