I just checked, and the Moscow Times does not have an archive, so I cannot give you a link to a reference.
The Russians had no problems catching up with Chechen terrorist Shamil Besayav and blowing him up in his hotel room, so I don’t know why they can’t get Soros. Maybe Soros can afford much better security than the terrorist Besayev.
Nevertheless, I don’t think you will see Soros going back to Russia for a visit any time soon.

George Soros was the brain behind every big financial fraud completed in Russia in the 90s. He was behind many Russian political functionaries - Chubais, Gaidar, Burbulis and others, who were key figures of so-called privatization which resulted in the transfer into the ownership of international financial swindlers of the biggest part of Russian national properties. Five hundred privatized Russian enterprises with the real cost of 200 billion dollars were bargained away for as little as 7,2 billion dollars and became legal properties of foreign companies and front structures.
In mid 90s, the Soros fund took a series of steps aimed at destruction of the Russain economy. American experts say that the ruble crash on 11 October, 1994 (aka Black Tuesday) happened due to Soros Fund’s machinations. They note that by the beginning of summer 1994 the Soros Fund purchased shares of a number of Russian enterprises at a sum of 10 million dollars. At the end of summer 1994 with shares cost increasing dramatically, Soros sold them. His resulting profit amounted to 400 million dollars. At the end of September 1994, Soros started to exchange rubles for dollars and this caused skyrocketing dollar rate, the devaluation of Russian currency, collapse of financial system and rapid bankruptcy of many Russian enterprises.

The rouble’s trouble had started last week after the influential investor George Soros had called for its devaluation.
However, on Monday Mr Soros claimed that he had been “misunderstood” and that the main point of his remarks had been the idea of setting up a currency board to stabilise the Russian currency.

The main difference is that the camp guards went where they were sent. Soros sought out the Nazis and willingly sold out his family and neighbors.
Don’t make any excuses for the camp guards. They’re not any less or more bad than Soros — they’re equivalent. There’s no excusing what the camp guards did. They had a choice in the matter.
Has he ever given any money to a worthy cause?
Imagine what World Vision, Christian Blind Mission,Samaritans Purse or the Leprosy mission could do with 100 million dollars.
These people that give money to UN groups or human rights watch etc, might just as well flush it IMHO.
Even this fellow Gates, if he gave all the money to World Vision, it would actually change the world, but no they want to give it to the UN and groups like that.

The few groups I mentioned do far more with less than the UN and other NON Christian charities, they also have low over head. The NON Christian groups pay the employees huge outrages wages.
