BET Founder Warns Dems: Lose Jim Clyburn, Lose Black Voters
November 11, 2010 06:38 AM

(News One) — The founder of Black Entertainment Television is warning Democrats that pushing Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.) out of leadership means losing black voters. Robert L. Johnson sent a letter to the House leadership and the Congressional Black Caucus underscoring why Clyburn should be whip over House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.). To be clear, Johnson has no vote, and this leadership position will be determined by private ballot in a closed Democratic caucus meeting. But the Johnson letter seems to be more of a public relations effort on Clyburn’s behalf.

The Democrats cannot afford to lose the black vote and they cannot afford to turn off the independents any more than they already have.

They’re hoist on their own petard.

I love it!

He’s saying blacks will vote Republican if the Democrats don’t comply with this requirement? Yeah, right. Sorry, fella, you can’t apply pressure when you’re a guaranteed vote, no matter what the Democrats do.

When LBJ signed the Voters Rights Act of 1964 he told Sen. Richard Russell of Ga.. “That will keep the n——rs voting Democrat for the next two hundred years.” Both Russell and Johnson had been staunch segregationists before that. The Democrats just manipulate the blacks for votes. They have no other interest in them.

....eventually the Dems are going to wake up to the fact that America is tired of kowtowing to blacks...the more the Dems do it, the more voters are disgusted by it.

He’s saying they will stay home. If they do that in 2012, the Dems can kiss Obama good-bye and write off dozens of House incumbents and Senators in purple states.

They need to gin up that black turnout to be competitive.

"Kinda sounds like a threat."

An empty threat and the dhimmis know it.

They'll throw Clyburn under the bus w/ absolute impunity and buy off the loudest of the mau-mauers w/ cushy positions.

Move along, nothing to see here.

One can only wonder, when the last politician who marched or claims to have marched dies, who will get the votes?

What they only going to vote 105% Dem? His threat tells that they vote Plantation and nothing else.

Pray for America

Or, they won’t vote at all. Not voting requires no effort. Voting requires an expenditure

Starting with Pelosi as Minority Leader, and now with the added attraction of a fight between Jim Clyburn and Steny Hoyer for the job as Whip, the next Congress could be a lot of fun to watch on the Democrat side!

I predict Palin and Steele will discover they have much in common and will create a dynamic coalition in the coming months. Speaking tours and fund-raisers. Building bridges and big bank accounts for 2012!

Clyburn (clymer) is delusional. He walks through a mixed race crowd and he hears, if no one else does, a constant murmur of "n-word, n-word, n-word".

The BET Founder would also appear to be delusional when he demands the Democrats vote this clymer in as one of their leaders.

Certainly there are plenty of other people in the Democrat caucus who can do the job, which isn't nearly as big as it used to be, without all the DTs.

It’d be a threat if anyone believed Blacks would follow through and abandon Democrats at the rolls. They don’t have to vote Republican. They could just not vote to send a message.

As a minority, This is why I am a REPUBLICAN.

The demoRATS are TWO-FACED Racists.

They want the BLACK vote but they don’t want them to get too uppity to thake a leadership position from a rich, white guy.

And with all due respect, many Americans of African descent cannot see that they are being used.

Republicans voted in the Voting Rights Act, not DemoRATS

Normally this threat would be credible in a Congress where Dems have such small numbers (and, correspondingly, black lawmakers have more power) but with Obama at the top of the ticket, the threat is meaningless. Blacks will turn out to vote for Obama even if the Dems propped up Kleagle Byrd and made him minority whip.
