Vid: Hundreds ride with boy to show support for his U.S.-flag-decorated bike after school banned it

Courtesy KOVR:

It wasn't this California boy's usual ride to school this morning! Hundreds of other bike riders came along--- Many of them veterans, and some from out of state, all wanting to show support to 13-year-old Cody Alicea. School officials had told Cody he shouldn't ride his American flag-decorated bike to school because some students were offended. That kicked up a firestorm of protest. The school superintendent has since apologized, and promised that something like that will not happen again.

But the school district is now facing a lawsuit from a civil liberties group.

I couldn't get any sound, but that didn't stop me from tearing up looking at the joy on this little boy's face! :*)

Patriotism is a GOOD thing!

Here's another video with sound and an excellent interview with Cody Alicea: (500) Motorcycle Riders Support Teen's Flag Display

Jim Robinson should make this kid an honorary FReeper! :*)

Shoot why doesn’t Jim Rob just send Cody a letter inviting him to be a real live Freeper. There isn’t any age limit far as I know, though the language here sometimes gets on the salty side (to our shame).

Someone should get 100 volunteers to paint this idiot school bureaucrat's home with stars and bars during the night!

Would be fitting.

Last Wednesday I went to my kids' (public) elementary school for the annual Veteran's Day assembly. I was invited before the assembly to speak in my son's class for an hour about my military service.

During the assembly the Cub Scouts presented the Colors under the direction of a member of the local American Legion. Then the entire student body side the Pledge of Allegiance. One of the teacher's fathers sang the national anthem. There were some readings by students that would have made Glenn Beck cry and Rachel Maddow physically ill. Then students got to introduce their guest veterans. It was all finished by singing "America, the Beautiful", as in God shed his grace on thee.

I think somewhere in Heaven Charelton Heston and Ronald Reagan were giving each other a high 5. Take heart friends, America isn't finished yet.

Curious - are you in a blue state or a red state?

I am in Washington, BUT I live in a pretty old school type town. Flags line the streets for the national holidays, the mayor ran a car in the cub scout pinewood derby, they celebrate Christmas at the public park.

My heart swelled watching the emotion crossing this boy’s face as he took in the meaning of what was happening - the quiet pride, the proud tears. Something deeply meaningful has been etched in this child’s life and in his memory. Bless him and all those who stood up for him.

LOL...well, the chicken administrator, who thought this young man and his flag were too “disruptive,” probably didn’t stick his nose out of his office to see this patriotic parade arrive at school.
Bravo to all who stood up for this young man and his love of country. He obviously didn’t learn that at school.

One of the very few times the noise from bikes doesn’t make me want to strangle someone...
