PROVO – Did unreported factors contribute to the demise of Mitt Romney's 2008 presidential campaign?

How did the news media cover the 1967-68 presidential campaign of his father, George Romney?

Two research projects presented to an audience of more than 100 people at BYU's Mormon Media Studies Symposium recently compared the two Romneys' campaigns.

BYU professors John Gee and Louis C. Midgley titled their paper, "Under the Media's Nose: Overlooked Factors Undermining the Presidential Campaign of Mitt Romney.

How about you find something GOOD about Spoiler Mitt Romney?

Here is something BAD about him. He was a TERRIBLE Governor.

MITT ROMNEY - THE PROVEN BAD GOVERNOR

"As U.S. real output grew 13 percent between 2002 and 2006, Massachusetts trailed at 9 percent.
* Manufacturing employment fell 7 percent nationwide those years, but sank 14 percent under Romney, placing Massachusetts 48th among the states.
* Between fall 2003 and autumn 2006, U.S. job growth averaged 5.4 percent, nearly three times Massachusetts' anemic 1.9 percent pace.
* While 8 million Americans over age 16 found work between 2002 and 2006, the number of employed Massachusetts residents actually declined by 8,500 during those years.
"Massachusetts was the only state to have failed to post any gain in its pool of employed residents," professors Sum and McLaughlin concluded.
In an April 2003 meeting with the Massachusetts congressional delegation in Washington, Romney failed to endorse President Bush's $726 billion tax-cut proposal."

I won’t be surprised if he renounces Mormonism and runs again in 2012. And then he’ll lose again.

I’m just hoping one decides to run. Last time we had two: Tancredo and Hunter, and the stupid party gave them the finger because only a celebrity RINO like Rudy McRomson could “win”. Kinda like “only Carly” could beat babs.

“Am I banned from FreeRepublic?

If you were banned, your post wouldn’t appear.

Take this as an educational moment not to shill for
Mitt on FR. He’s a RINO. This is a conservative site.

Why should you be banned? The owner of the site posted in the thread to let you know just what he thinks about Romney. Not surprising that there aren’t a lot of Mitt fans on the site (I’m certainly not one), but I didn’t take your posting of the article as trolling.

We had plenty of "christian" "evangelical" bigots right here on FR who trashed Romney's Mormon religion and him as a member of the faith. Don't know whether they convinced anyone, since they are not very literate or articulate, but rather just spewers of hate. Nevertheless they were and are out there.

There are Mittbots left. Interesting.

No. Mormons like to present as the poor, misunderstood, persecuted minority. They make such martyrs of themselves but have not yet convinced anyone of that.

People's problems with Mitt are his politics. He's a liberal RINO, plain and simple, just like McCain, who people objected to and who was NOT a Mormon.

His religion has nothing to do with people's objections to him. Getting off the martyr wagon will give Mormons a lot more credibility.

My apologies to one and all.

I'm astounded that there are still MittBotts trying the same old, same old on FR. I believe Jim made it very clear quite some time ago where he stood with this.

Also, I resent the statement that the conservative Christian patriots are somehow not articulate or literate. What an illiterate and inarticulate thing to say!

Kate, you have been here since 1998-05-27 ???

Why are you only now finding out about Romney ???

Its not the topic that is forbidden...

It is the subtefuge and trolling RomneyBots ...

The MittWitts who troll on FR for their master are as welcome as a fox in a henhouse...

The difference being the fox has more honor and integrity...

He’s just doing what is natural for him...

One major item that helped derail Romney is that most GOP Senators got on board early for fellow club member John McCain. The Florida primary was the back breaker for the Romney campaign.

The simple RINO argument doesn't cut it with me since McCain was an even bigger RINO. As Chief Executive, I will take the business experience of Romney over the Club Member experience of McCain any day.

In similar fashion, I’m a Catholic, but that doesn’t mean that I’d vote for Teddy Kennedy or Nancy Pelosi because they call themselves Catholics.

Kennedy/Pelosi are no more Catholic than Fred Phelps is Baptist. Anyone is free to call themselves whatever they choose, it doesn't make it so. If it did I would call myself a trillionaire.

You just proved my point.

You had to go ping JR for what?

Because you didn’t like what I said?

Your feelings got hurt?

Well, here’s another one.

Buck up, buttercup.

Or there aren’t enough young men who want to form an all-men’s team so he has to resort to playing with the girls.

In other words, why are you taking time to shill for RINOMNEY on FR, when people get banned for doing this?

Feb 2008 - primary season, KateUTWS:

That’s what frost’s me, the poor religious conservatives who felt put upon by mean ol wepublican wino’s are doing the same thing to Mitt Romney and those of us who support him.

Feb, 2008:

Wasn’t that the best speech at CPAC? I didn’t think anyone could top Mitt Romney’s speech.

Jan. 2008:

It’s just breathtaking isn’t it, the hatred voiced by many on FreeRepublic to Mitt Romney and the supporters of Mr. Romney. Perhaps the donation I would have made to FR would be better spent on Mitt Romney instead.

She's mormon from Provo, Utah and a Mittbot from way back.

Any other explanation needed?

By the way, I just noticed that one of F.R.s more notorious Mitt pushers has been banned or suspended, GOPLady member since 2000.

Give an example of hate, give an example of distortions of lds - just one that’s all we ask.
Romney lost because he is a flipping liberal.
Now if you what an example of bigots look at the 92% vote Romney got in Utah - lds before anything else nothing else matters.
