First Health Care, Next the Food Supply
The American Thinker ^ | November 17, 2010 | Michael Geer

Posted on 11/17/2010 2:09:17 AM PST by Scanian

Just because the duck is lame doesn't mean it can't still do terrible damage to American freedom. Our new Congress, especially the new House, isn't yet seated, and this current Congress can still wreak terrible havoc on our rights if not stopped.

Case in point: Senate Bill 510, believed to be coming to the floor Wednesday, November 17 (pending). This is the food safety version of ObamaCare. Reading the thing will make your head hurt for all its cognitive dissonance. Trying to winnow out its complexity and hidden empowerments is stultifying.

Introduced by Dick Durbin of Illinois, the bill has moved through the usual phases of amalgamation and deal-making. The monstrosity advancing to the floor on Wednesday is not so much "food safety" as it is the decadence of the rights of small farmers, hobbyist food producers, garden-variety farmers markets, and your average small producer of foodstuffs. Under the rubric of safety, this Senate proposes a bill that establishes such new and sweeping powers over how you and I produce and consume foodstuffs that even the Pew Charitable Trusts are calling S510 a clear and present danger. National Health Freedom says,

"It is a dangerously broad regulatory bill giving extensive discretionary power to the FDA over the entire food supply chain without proper checks and balances to avoid abuse of power;

"It would impose one-size-fits-all-regulations on thousands of small and mid-sized farmers, small-scale local farms and food producers, and would drastically burden, to extinction, basic natural and organic food suppliers, thus endangering the lives of Americans who depend on local wholesome foods..."

I hate to keep posting the same thing over and over but don’t forget the RHINO’s who are supporting and voting for this bill. Our own two moron RHINO’s from GA, Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isakson are going to not only vote for S.510 they are co-sponsors. Many people in GA are emailing and calling these two idiots but they are so arrogant and so entrenched in elitism it is mind boggling. Isakson just ran practically unopposed and won another term last month so why would he care what the constituency thinks?

If you want to ping on someone call Chambliss and Isakson’s office this morning and give both of them a piece of your mind.

If we don’t have a civil war before this bill goes into effect than the American dream envisioned by the founding fathers is totally lost forever.

Somehow I suspect it will indeed happen and people will sooner murder their own families than turn against dear leader. Within 10 years this nation will be identical to North Korea in every communist way. You can bet on it.

It’s part of the control. They will control EVERYTHING.
This could easily result in a challenge to the SCOTUS ruling which allowed the feds to regulate a farm within a state.
Far-reaching consequences if that ruling were overturned!

When gardens are outlawed, only outlaws will have gardens...

Hmmm. I'm pretty sure my Great Great Grandad didn't survive the Russian Revolution and bring his family to America in a cattleboat just so his progeny could be starved by Bolsheviks less than 100 years later.

“Quinn just said that they are going to attach the earmark moratorium to this Food Safety bill.

So if Republicans vote against the bill, they will be accused of hypocrisy on the earmarks thing.”

Yes, and then, on cue many in the liberal mainstream media on here on this site will attack Republicans.

Face it people, the problem, is all these laws. 99% of laws Congress has passed are socialism, unconstitutional AND damage freedom and the economy.

The solution is to have a Constitutional amendment that will

1. Make ALL laws expire after 3 years. The problem is once these socialist laws are passed then they are forever, forever mandating increasing spending, increasing government growth, increasing government control etc.

This way only a few laws (programs) which are what people really want will be kept going.

And this must apply to all laws passed since the constitution was ratified. So all previous laws passed will be given 3 years to expire.

2. Documentation on each law about to be voted on must be mailed out to each American.

Maybe that’s the real purpose behind the “civilian security force as well-equipped as the military” which has sort of fallen off the radar in recent months.

The good thing about that is the House can absolutely deny any funding to the effing Brown Shirts and their effing equipment.

Yes this is truly insanity and a goal to totally control our food supply...now why would they want to control the food supply?

CLOTURE VOTE TODAY - The U.S. Senate is expected to vote on cloture today on SB 510 - the so-called Food Safety Bill. They need 60 votes to stop debate and move to a final vote on the bill.

JAIL TIME - This Lame Duck strategy aims to put small farmers and others under heavy regulatory authority with arbitrary penalties that include jail time...all for the stated purpose of protecting our health.

LAST DITCH EFFORT - This bill was defeated in earlier attempts this year but it appears that Democrats aim to protect health by eliminating food freedom and natural health freedom (including open access to nutritional supplements) before Republicans take over the House.

CALL NOW - CCHF has kept this bill in our sights and now is the time for you, our supporters, to take aim and fire.

Contact Congress today.

MORE INFO - The Tea Parties are engaged and our friends at Alliance for Natural Health and Natural Solutions Foundation have more info, including 10 points and email contact links.

Bump that.

It's the only way I can see to peacefully reform government back into its specified purpose:

Yep. Exactly. And that’s why every generation of our family has had the importance of having a Victory Garden drilled into our heads ever since.

And also can’t the government access your payroll stubs/taxes and so on with ObamaCare? To probably check and see if you sold a lawn mower on craigslist OR if you have enough money to pay for health Care.

As it is paychecks are gutted down to nothing.

Sugar and cotton prices going up. It will get ugly.I am not doing Christmas. I can’t.

We need everyone nationwide to call - and please, please, please put the pressure on Chambliss and Isakson. You should hear their form letter responses - they are not listening... we need to overwhelm them.

I’m so mad I could spit nails.

Dear Fellow Tennesseans, please help me out here. The vote is going to come up this week. Could be Thursday. Could even be today.

Toll-Free number to the Congressional Switchboard

(866) 338-1015

Our dumb Senator Lamar Alexander is a co-sponsor of this stinking pile of Soviet-era centralized-control-of-the-food-supply $#!+ --- !

Stop Senate Bill 510

TELL SENATOR LAMAR ALEXANDER: WITHDRAW AS CO-SPONSOR

DO NOT VOTE ON THIS DURING THE LAME-DUCK SESSION.

At the very least, have the decency to put off a vote until January, 2011 – so that people can read this and evaluate whether it is a desirable piece of legislation. Do not try to cram this down our throats just like Congress did with the Health Care Bill.

Toll-Free number to the Congressional Switchboard

(866) 338-1015

I MEAN NOW.
