First Health Care, Next the Food Supply (7 GOP Senate Sponsors of another Crap Sandwich-2 from GA)
American Thinker ^ | November 17, 2010 | Michael Geer

Posted on 11/17/2010 7:59:54 AM PST by Mamzelle

Introduced by Dick Durbin of Illinois, the bill has moved through the usual phases of amalgamation and deal-making. The monstrosity advancing to the floor on Wednesday is not so much "food safety" as it is the decadence of the rights of small farmers, hobbyist food producers, garden-variety farmers markets, and your average small producer of foodstuffs. Under the rubric of safety, this Senate proposes a bill that establishes such new and sweeping powers over how you and I produce and consume foodstuffs that even the Pew Charitable Trusts are calling S510 a clear and present danger.

New bill ready to shove through is a monstrosity of limitations on food production. What's amazing is that there are seven GOP Senators sponsoring it. What's more amazing--two of them are from GA!!

Where does the U.S. Constitution delegate power to the the Federal Government to meddle in all of these affairs?

It's not the Federal Government, it's the Feral Government.

It's up to the people of this country to vote these rogues out of office and get our country back on track.

The elites would love to get control of the food supply as a way of subduing a rebelious population.

My ‘bitter clinger’ cousin Eddie used to eat squirrel but gave it up due to high cholesterol. I guess he’ll be back to hunting the rodent if food production becomes too controlled.

Probably a direct result of the Chinese putting melamine in baby formula to simultaneously up the protein count and kill hundreds, if not thousands, of infants.

The Chinese did, indeed, EXECUTE those responsible...

Chinese protein adulteration refers to the adulteration and contamination of several food and feed ingredients with inexpensive melamine and other compounds such as cyanuric acid, ammeline and ammelide.

These adulterants can be used to inflate the apparent protein content of products, so that inexpensive ingredients can pass for more expensive, concentrated proteins.[1] Melamine by itself has not been thought to be very toxic to animals or humans except possibly in very high concentrations, but the combination of melamine and cyanuric acid has been implicated in kidney failure. Reports that cyanuric acid may be an independently and potentially widely-used adulterant in China have heightened concerns for both animal and human health.[2]

This was one of the steps Stalin took to gain control over food production and distribution in the old Soviet Union. It resulted in 10’s of million deaths from the ensuing famines and then pogroms resulting from the unrest. These so-called GOP senators should be dragged out and publicly humiliated and denounced by the rest of the GOP.

Not surprised by our RINOs Chambliss and Isakson. The Agriculture lobby is strong in GA. I’ve heard Chambliss speak in person about Ag in GA. He sounds just like a Dem. You wouldn’t know he has a R after his name if you could listen to him without knowing who he is.

Crap sandwiches will be heavily regulated under S510.

You may be disposed to embrace a genetically modified, enhanced, and altered food chain, but for those of us who eat our foods unadulterated, raised naturally, and without benefit of the federal government mandating what we can and can't eat, S510 is one more giant step toward consolidating total power over the lives of free citizens.

If my two GOP Senators from GA are supporting this bill it must contain some candy for the large corporate agricultural interests in the state and not any small individual dirt farmers.
