Mr. Speaker:
A nationwide revolt is developing over the body scanners at the airports, and it should.
Hundreds of thousands of frequent fliers who fly each week are upset about getting these frequent doses of radiation.
Parents are upset about being forced to have their children radiated or being touched inappropriately by an unrelated adult.
There is already plenty of security at the airport, but now we are going to spend up to $300 million to install 1,000 scanners.
This is much more about money than it is about security.
The former Secretary of Homeland Security, Michael Chertoff, represents Rapiscan, the company which is selling these scanners to his former department.
Far too many federal contracts are sweetheart, insider deals.
Companies hire former high ranking federal officials, and then magically, those companies get hugely profitable federal contracts.
The American people should not have to choose between having full-body radiation or a very embarrassing, intrusive pat-down every time they fly, as if they were criminals.
We need a little more balance and common sense on this.

It's not a religion - that's the problem. It's a totalitarian political organization hiding behind 1st Amendment religious protections.
Until a clear definition of religion is asserted as MANDATING complete voluntary participation without retaliation ro punishment for non-participation under ANY circumstances, Islam will continue to infiltrate, undermine and sabotage America, with the clear goal of someday taking it over completely and killing those who refuse them.
Islam is a murderous invader in America, and in the entire world. This isn't my interpretation - it's what they've been screaming from the rooftops all over the world, and writing in the blood of their endless victims.
America either has to identify Islam as the non-religious political enemy it is, or it will die. Islam itself refuses any other solution.
God forid it should take a terrorist nuke to wake up Americans to this stark, utterly unavoidable truth.
Hey, scanners on the House floor is a great idea! Senate too. But we need to have them walking out, not in, so we can catch them stealing our dollars.
And we need one at the National Archives in case Sandy Burger returns.
Hey, if you can destroy the lives of Catholic priests and force them to pay millions of dollars for this sort of thing, why should the federal government go scott free?
yes, i have to say the thought occurred to me, that Zero knows something could happen, we will have a man-made disaster, and then too many people will cave in and we will become human cattle. so either way he will get what he wants.

He doesn’t need walking around money so maybe he does know something we don’t. My thought-if they (we the taxpayers) have bought enough for all airlines, maybe there is no more market. But then I read somewhere-wish I could remember where-that they might be appropriate for entrances to schools, shopping centers, etc. Who knows. I guess it’s another one of those hide and watch issues.
Radiation is cumulative and can especially harm those with compromised immune systems, as well as frequent fliers.
