GREENSBURG, Pa. -- Police are looking for a man who stole an assault rifle from a Greensburg store Wednesday.
Gander Mountain surveillance video showed a man removing a security tag from an AR .223 Bushmaster rifle and then quickly hiding the weapon inside his jacket and pants before walking out the door.
Store employees said they quickly noticed that the rifle was gone and called police.
"I want the word to get out there. I want the person to get out and I want them go to jail. I want to get my gun back. I don't want anybody hurt with it," Store Manager Scott Denney said.
Greensburg police Lt. Douglas Marcoz said police are not sure if the man was working alone in the crime. He said police are asking the public for help in finding the culprit.

They should probably hide an RFID tag inside the stock or underneath the handguards, so them high-powered assault rifles don't fall into the wrong hands.
They probably had a trigger lock on it, but I don’t think it would be to hard to remove one of those.
Maybe it’s me, but it almost seems like he knows where the camera is. He keeps his head turned down, and away from it when he walks in. I’m guessing it wasn’t his first time in the store.
I’m not impressed. Let’s see him steal an Alaskan election as write-in, then I’ll...
Well, stealing an election requires a lot of buddies to pull off. I think this guy acted alone.
Yeah, the same tag technology that keeps a $1.99 item from being (easily) smuggled out of Wal Mart ought to have some place here for these valuable weapons. Of course conspiracy theorists would hit the ceiling about tagged guns.
Watch the video. The guy that walked into the store ahead of him was probably a lookout.
Heh. That’s a good one - a trigger lock on every gun in the gun store! Not in any gun store I’ve been in ... ;-)
The Gander Mt. near me has trigger locks on the guns that are on the display racks where the customers can handle them. Not on the guns behind the counter or in cases.
He WAS armed when (while) the crime was committed—at least at the end.
Arms robbery for sure.
Why am I thinking the weapon in question was NOT fully automatic?

Putting hidden trackers on unsold guns would probably be a good store policy for cases like this. For those worried about this technology, all you gotta do is invest in an rf signal detector and remove it yourself.

As an NRA member I have to tell you that libs are correct to complain about someone walking out of a store with a weapon like this; it is absurd, and should involve at least a fine. This store owner is doing the cause no favors; watch how much publicity this story gets.
Just another "up east" butt-ignorant reporter and editor.
I've always favored the 'old' AR-10 over the *original* Armalite AR-15 because it was chambered in .308 (7.62 Nato), but Bushmaster is changing that. And they also have a .308 version, the Bushmaster® .308 ORC, for 'Home Defense'.Dear Santa,
I'd like one of these please. (and you know I've been a good boy)
I'd like the Top one, pretty please. And a couple boxes of the Hornady ammo
450 Bushmaster, 250 gr, FTX® LEVERevolution®
Muzzle Vel 2,200 fps, Energy 2686 ft lbs"Well suited to hunt any North American game, the 450 Bushmaster will quickly become a favorite of bear country guides. By simply switching uppers, shooters can go from the prairie dog towns of South Dakota to bear country in the north woods!"
(and FWIW Bushmaster is cheaper than Armalite)
