I wonder if Chinese missiles are made to the same high standards as everything else that’s made in China? I don’t believe I would want to bet my life on Chinese weaponry.
I disagree. They may not be the best quality but they are getting very close. Give them a couple of more years.
I can tell you between Russian technology and Chinese technology, the Chinese are light years ahead of the Russians.
I know soon we may have a flood of Chinese ammo on store shelves. I know I will never buy any of it. If they can’t keep lead out of canvas shopping bags, who is to say their gun powder won’t contain lead, mercury, or arsenic?
I am absolutely with you. China is a vast and inexpensive store filled with diethylene glycol-laced toothpaste, melamine-laced infant formula, and some of the very worst machinery this planet has to offer.
Oh I know. I can’t wait. :sarc Never the less, I would not bet my life on a weapon, a weapon system, or body armor that was made in China. No way. I definitely wouldn’t bet my country on it.
I agree with most of what you say ESB. For instance, the gains Chinese technology has made. They have really grown by leaps and bounds.
However sometimes you really go off tangent and end up in fantasy land. For instance your claim above that Chinese technology is light years ahead of Russian. Simply not true ...or even close to it.
In the same way there is no comparison between Russian technology and US technology, there is also no comparison between Chinese technology and Russian technology.
Case in point ...there are actually so many it is actually caseS in point. Take the Shenyang Liming WS-10, which is an engine the Chinese turbofan engine for jet fighters. Now it is slowly starting to work as advertised, but it is still nowhere near the Russian AL-31 ...even though the Chinese have had access to the Russian engines for a VERY LONG TIME. They cannot even manufacture an engine that is analogous to the Russian engine, while the Russians are already doing work on super-cruise capable engines. Yet the Chinese are light years ahead?
Take RADAR. Same thing. Chinese RADAR is becoming better, but it is not even up to the standards of the best Russian RADARs from the eighties such as the Zaslon-M PESA. The Chinese, with modern materials and a couple decade learning curve, still are not able to make something as good as mid-80s Russian PESAs. Yet they are light years ahead?
Take missiles. The Chinese HQ-9, which is a weaker copy of the Russian S-300 family. Even though the Chinese have access to the S-300, and per rumors information on US Patriot guidance, the HQ-9 is still not as good as early model S-300 systems. The Russians have continued to develop the S-300 family, have already started bringing the S-400 Triumf into play, and are working on the next generation S-500. Yet the Chinese are light years ahead?
Or take airplanes. The Chinese J-15 is an unlicensed copy of the Russian SU-33 meant for naval carrier operations. The Chinese thought they were smart trying to copy that using material/plans/plane acquired from the Ukraine, but they solidly failed in that too. By some reports they couldn't even get the wing folding right!
One could go on and on. In essence, and with all due respect, saying Chinese technology is 'light years ahead of the Russians' is high-grade hyperbole at best, or worse.
They have been doing that for almost 50 years-before Hillary finished high school.
Other than pasting one article over and over, how does that prove your point. Even Chinese fanboy sites are filled with reports of various PLA systems from their 5-th gen. fighter to their new SSKs to their new radar systems benefiting from Russian research and assistance.
And one more thing. When it comes to foreign weapon systems, Strategypage is about as useful as an ashtray on a motorcycle. Fact and logic don’t exist when it comes to supporting to their pet notions. They called the Chinese K-8 basic trainer a bomber while in a recent post said that the Indian LCA could carry 34% of its total loaded weight in weapons!! Even Chicom and Indian jingoists would be embarrased to hear that.
Boy are we a little arrogant
Its called double clicking. I guess you have not done that before by accident.
I don’t post the same article in pretty much every other thread.
I am informing people who have not seen it and there are plenty of people.
Strategypage makes people more ignorant than informed.
