You have a great day, too....I prefer pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving, but wild Maine blueberry pie is good, too!

That is exactly why I am for short interviews.

While traveling with my young daughter between countries a few years back, she was asked by a customs/border agent, to identify who her dad and I were. She just blankly stared at us. Talk about a moment of sweating! I totally understand why they ask children this question, but was most uncomfortable with her reaction.

We were profiled as adults traveling with a young child. Questions needed to be asked that is not required of someone traveling without a child. Profiling can be done under equal protection.

This is of course, why short interviews are important. Of course we could prove we were the parents. It all was fine, but would not have been if we were not the parents.

We need profiling of people who are given a sanction by their beliefs to kill innocent people.

Send me your daughters and let me rub on their 'privy parts' for a while.

I bet you say that to all your friends. (don't complain, you started it)

The issue isn't that they are conducting these searches. The issue is they are Randomly searching Americans, with no cause.

The issue is, how many bombs have they found during these RANDOM searches?

I would bet it is ZERO.

Keep up the searches, keep up the pat-downs, or body cavity searches if necessary, BUT INTELLIGENTLY SELECT possible terrorists based on a knowledge of HUMAN PSYCHOLOGY, use PROFILING (pioneered by the FBI) and BRING BACK THE DOGS.

And that the TSA has become a bloated federal bureaucracy.

A specific court order is needed to do what they are doing.

So let's say they weren't searching babies, but olive-skinned middle easterners who look like they shaved all their body hair off, and were mumbling ALLAH AKBAR repeatedly.

Would you require they get a court order to conduct the search?

I heard Obama is allowing 80,000 Muslims to move to America next year. Is anyone vetting them?

And don’t forget about the Thousands, that BO & Big Sis are allowing to illegally come in through the Mexican border every month.

I am making blueberry pie for my son for his b’day on Monday.

My Mom’s birthday is today but she passed away 2 months ago so I won’t be making a cake or pie for her.

Have you read the disclaimers and riders going up on FR lately?

From JIM, or from other posters who think they OWN FR ?

Some people just don’t get it and belaboring the point with them is......well......pointless.

RE: “I am with you on this. Creating this mass hysteria over your safety.

Can’t help but wonder what the terrorists are all thinking now.

People need to get a grip and remember what got us to here, namely 9/11.”

***********************

While everyone is fussing and fuming about airport ‘security’ (ha), terrorists are no doubt busily planning different types of attacks — a well placed missile could take out one of the mega cruise ships and cause thousands of deaths — no terrorist even need be on board!

I recall before 9/11 the WHOLE COUNTRY was ruminating about the Chandra Levy murder — nothing else seemed to matter until Ms. Levy’s death was upstaged by 9/11...

I like the way Mark Steyn said it earlier this morning: he went to the Starbucks in the airport to get a coffee, and the guy behind the counter came out and stuck his hand down Mark’s pants, but then he explained that he was an ex-TSA guy so it was all OK.

I have been laughing for 3 straight hours with him. He is so quick.

Doesn’t that just prove the point?? If you don’t want the coach or teacher feeling your child up, then why is it OK for a government worker??

RE: “I am NOT flying, so let the airlines fight another cost to them — the loss of passengers. Flights are already too costly with all the nickle and dime add-on charges. Its cheaper to drive. Although it takes longer, don’t have to mess with hassles and get to pack a meal or two.”

******************

I’m with you — have not flown in nearly 3 years, in part because of all the idiotic hassles that secure nothing — and now THIS nonsense is upon us — I see no good choice between radiation (like we don’t get enough of that elsewhere anyway) and being physically felt up by a bunch of low level ill-trained clerks.

Driving is great and for those who have the time, it seems the ONLY sane option. Besides, in my case I will have more room for souvenirs and such, purchased along the way.

Unless you’re getting a personal “pat down” by the security folks at WP everyday you go to work, there is no comparison.

And having been in the military for 20 years and currently working on a military facility, I am practically 100% positive you don’t. Unless you give the security forces some probable cause. Which in the case of TSA, there is no probable cause.

Having an ID card checked to verify you have a need or a purpose to access a certain facility at your work location is a lot different than having a stranger grope you, your wife or your children in the interest of “flying safety”.

so you see my point?

No.

There are many posters on this thread who agree with Chuzzlewit, and are defending their position. Including me.

I think Chuzzlewit just didn't express him(her)self completely enough.

It's not that they are searching babies, it's that they aren't searching the terrorists.

Those who think we should completely 'ban' any patdowns or body cavity searches, because TSA is randomly picking OBVIOUS NON TERRORISTS to search is missing the point.

Sure, something needs to be done to alleviate this unneeded touching of small children (and nuns, and old men in wheelchairs), but trying to ban ALL searching isn't going to protect us.

I’m not sure why you haven’t seen the scanners at Dulles. Norfolk does not have them yet but Dulles has them. Most airports have them.

Here is a list of US Airports with the scanners. Some have just been installed and may not yet be in use.

I’m sure you’ll think differently when standing in line at an airport behind your daughters watching the creepy TSA agent give them a good ‘love pat’.
