My vote for the dumbest post of the year.

Not really. One method to quell the current uprising against TSA would be for politicians to submit themselves to the same scrutiny.

well it seems to me that most airports have a vip line, which is usually not that long, so why shouldn’t our elected officials flying our friendly skies have to go through the same scanning and groping?

The pat downs are ridiculous and not really helpful. Using intelligence and criminal/terrorist profiling as Israel does, makes more sense. Under profiling, Boehner would NOT get a stop and pat down. It would be ridiculous.

And he has a security guard because he is 3d in line for the Presidency. I have no problem with that. He COULD be going to a private jet making a flight just for him--per previous speakers. Most of them used a small jet, until Nan decided she was worth a huge aircraft that could ferry her to SF without refueling.

Only the most lefty libs are making noises FOR a pat down because they have a knee jerk reaction for the word "profiling".

“Due to the 3 equal branches of gov, Executive branch cannot search, force to testify, or in any other way FORCE the other two branches to do ANYTHING.”

So, federal judges cannot issue injunctions against the executive branch? Happens all the time.

The problem isn't that Boehner gets a pass. The problem is that the rest of us don't.

That's really the crux of the issue, isn't it?

Where’s the mention of the other 434 congress critters and 100 senators getting the same bypass

Actually, backbenchers do have to go through the same indignity. Only the Congressional leadership has the perks of a security detail and bypassing the lines. An example is here.

Article I, Section 6, Clause 1, of the U.S. Constitution ...states:

And the TSA is authorized where, exactly, in the US Constitution? And the US Constitution allows citizens to be patted down indiscriminately, without reasonable cause, where exactly?

We can't start throwing out Constitution one place and not another.

Oh, and by the way, the following may be of interest:

This clause is practically obsolete. It applies only to arrests in civil suits, which were still common in this country at the time the Constitution was adopted.376It does not apply to service of process in either civil377 or criminal cases.378Nor does it apply to arrest in any criminal case. The phrase “treason, felony or breach of the peace” is interpreted to withdraw all criminal offenses from the operation of the privilege.379

376 Long v. Ansell, 293 U.S. 76 (1934).
377 Id., 83.
378 United States v. Cooper, 4 Dall. (4 U.S.) 341 (C.C. Pa. 1800).
379 Williamson v. United States, 207 U.S. 425, 446 (1908).

I do have a problem with US having to get one when he doesn't and I do have a problem with someone saying that he's not getting special privileges when he is.

He any not be getting any special privileges compared to other politicians, but compared to us, yeah, he is.

This is no longer a country of equality and equal rights for everyone. It's becoming a caste society.

********************

Exactly right. No longer "public servants", they are fast becoming our overlords.

Public servants-how quaint.

Give me a break. Boehner is well-known and will be the third person in line of succesion for the WH. He should not be treated the same as you. That is the kind of logic that has TSA treating 80 year old nuns the same as young male Muslims.

Boehner is not being given a pass. He is being profiled, which is a good thing.

Everyone is not the same nor are they treated the same. Instead of demanding that Boehner should be treated like you, you should be supporting profiling. It has nothing to do with being selfish, but rather, being logically consistent.

Everyone should have to be checked, including politicians, celebrities, church leaders, power brokers, and anyone else who decides to fly.

You neglected to mention the most obvious one, but of course ...that would be racist.

Neither do you, but you get to go through the Nude-O-Scope so some TSA droid can measure your privates looking for bombs that don't exist.

I am not the next Speaker of the House accompanied by a security detail. We need a little more commonsense rather than a one size fits all approach to security.

The NYT is again smearing Reps and getting people like you angry at Boehner.

We’re getting angry about this and we should be. But, the question is ...what do we demand they do about this?

From yesterday:
It is a matter of our Federal Government being unwilling to properly define the enemy of the United States of America. Random searches are a violation of our Constitutional Rights. These people have done nothing to be subject to a criminal search, nor does the Federal Government have any right whatsoever to DETAIN or DENY these persons. The minute they pull you aside for a random pat-down or screening...you are being illegally detained.

We need to FORCE THEM TO DEFINE THE ENEMY. Their political correctness is now infringing on innocent civilians

Slimes equating clearing security with tying up multi-million dollar aircraft and crew. Douchebags.

Hmmmm. It seems that TSA CAN profile. This is a perfect opportunity for Boehner to make a few points about what TSA and DHS are doing to Americans.

It's simple in my mind.

1. Arm everybody over the age of 18 with an 18” Bowie knife when they get on the plane. Give it back when you disembark.
2. Use mass spectrometers to scan for explosives.
3. Announce to the world our intention to nuke Mecca and Medina in the event of a 911 terrorist attack.

The question was “should The Speaker Of The House be treated differently than me? Hell no. Give him or her a Bowie knife too.
