KIM TAE YON made the statement just now in S. Korean Parliament (budget committee) that this is due to the just released information that North Korea has been building a light water nuclear reactor at amazing speed, details just released to the world and satellite photos also revealed.

Minister of Defense of South Korea Kim stated that this is to put a halt to North Korean nuclear weapons ambition, and is now being considered, which will go back on South Korea's committment in 1991 under President Roh Tae Woo to never manufacturer, house or use nuclear weapons in South Korea.

‘Lee is not really a tough guy.”

Perhaps not, but what exactly do we expect him to do? If he gets up and pounds his chest it will only escalate the whacked out north.

If he takes some kind of limited military action the Whitehouse is surely going to condemn it.

Last time China stepped in to calm things down publically. meanwhile they still escalate the situation in public while BO is off on vacation.

We really really need a leader.

“We really really need a leader.”

Problem is we aren’t going to get one for at least a couple more years. That’s a long time for things to go from bad to horribly bad.

Fortunately, we haven’t had to deal with (yet) a new shooting war somewhere. Lord knows how Obumbum would deal with a real foreign crisis.

Why would the ROK publicly state that it may have to introduce tactical nukes on the peninsula?

Now the DPRK has to respond publicly....

S Korea and Japan need STRATEGIC nukes more than tactical ones.

The NORKS are Chicom puppets kept on life support just to intimidate the West.

China now has a massive inefficient business orientated infrastructure so interconnected with all the outs and ins of their huge economy the slightest disruption at any of the thousands of logistical bottlenecks would bring the entire Chinese imitation Capitalist society house of cards to a crashing smoking pile of paper.

The Chicom mob bosses know this and they also know a few Japanese Taiwanese and S Korean land based ICBMs pointed in their direction would cause a tremendous shift in their foreign policy--like curbing their rabid NORKies.

They would,of course, threaten and bluff, but without an operational ABM system MAD would restrict their behavior just like the Soviets and the USA.

Japan: N. Korea’s New Uranium Enrichment Unacceptable

11/22/10

North Korea’s latest claims to have a working uranium enrichment program are “absolutely unacceptable,” Japan’s top government spokesman Yoshiito Sengoku said Monday.

His comment follows disclosures by a US scientist that he had toured a modern uranium enrichment plant in the communist state, raising the prospect that Pyongyang is preparing to build a more powerful atomic bomb.

They will go for 3rd nuclear test anyway. It will put to rest resurgent bout of appeasement fever: the campaign by some in Lee’s gov to send half a million tons of rice to NK.

“Tactical nukes” are arguably a contradiction in terms, but this ought to send a message to China.

“Hmm... I wonder if the “Shanghai Cooperation Organization” is anything like the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere?”

After looking at it I’d say they are one in the same with a name change and rebranding...

I thought the ROK publicity was in response to the DPRK announcements.

"Unless South Korea already has tactical nukes on hand I doubt that they’ll get anything from barry any time soon. The man is dedicated to the nuclear disarmament of the US and our allies...what makes anyone in Korea think he’ll change course for them? Does anyone lnow if the South Koreans already have tactical nukes? Besides what may or may not be on their soil under US control?"

There is more than on contingency plan for the nuclear defense of So Korea. Most center on the US Navy and the ability of a Trident sub to lay a line of nukes, east to west, along the 38th parallel.

Would'nt even have to use all 24 tubes.

Sure...and none of those contingencies counted on an America hating marxist with musli sympathies as Commander in Chieef...did they?

"They will go for 3rd nuclear test anyway."

their first two fizzled...probably due to insufficient enrichment of the HEU.

The only real explosion was the TNT. There was not a critical mass fission explosion.

That said, it's apparent they have decided HEU is too difficult (and it IS difficult) and are shifting to the transformation of their U238 to PU239...the light water reactor ascertains that.

Put U238 rods in for a week, pull out weapons grade PU239.

Reactors used for power production don't have this "quick in and out" capability.

Yep, and the RINOs will never learn. Did Bush catch less criticism after moving left? No way. When you run and govern as a true conservative, 50% of the electorate hates you. When you move left to RINO-land, you lose your base and 100% of the electorate hates you. 50% or 100%, it should be easy math but the repubs continue to screw it up.
