TSA full-body scanners at airports supported by majority of Americans, half against pat-downs: poll

Americans aren't crazy about the new airport pat-downs. But according to a new poll, nearly half still back them, with even more supporting full body scanning.

Forty-eight percent of Americans said the pat-downs are justified, while 50% said they are against the new measures, a new Washington Post/ABC News poll revealed.

Meanwhile, the majority – 64% – said they supported the use of full-body scanners while 32% said they were against it.

The 385 full-body scanners being used at 68 airports across the country have sparked an outcry from flyers, who argue they're virtual strip searches because they produce invasive, intimate images of passengers.

This is the same poll that said that Obama has a 53% approval rating, and that the Democratic Congress has a 35% approval rating.

Manufactured “news” to generate the desired outcome, again.
Isn’t that why the searches are so intrusive. Nudge the people in to the scanners their buddies sell. Not to mention the T-Shirt and image business that can be generated.

The eco/enviro wackos go around telling us how the earth ozone layer is depleting and how it will cause skin cancer, but, the liberals and this administration are fine with it for people to go through those scanning machines that could cause skin cancer..

How many of those polled actually fly? My guess is it’s like asking if you mind if the “other” guy pays more taxes. It always sounds like a good idea if you’re not personally affected...

How much of this pat down operation was to get people to not ask questions about the safety and privacy of the full body scanners? If the choice was between full body x-rays vs metal detector with being wanded, everyone would take the metal detector. It looks like the TSA is playing bad cop/worse cop.

Yep, if air traffic should drop significantly, there would be significant changes for sure

Significant changes? You mean in terms of a bailout being called for by the recently unionized TSA? This has all been orchestrated nicely.

Obama's thought process: Pat-down or body scan. Oh, you want neither and will now drive your car instead? Cool. I CALL FOR IMMEDIATE ACTION TO SAVE OUR AIRLINE INDUSTRY! The Government MUST bail them out!

The majority of Americans do not fly much, if at all.

The majority of Americans have never read our Constitution.

The majority of Americans aren’t very smart. In fact, half of them are below average IQ.

Foxnews had some pro-grope people on today.

Some lady who used to be a TSA puke said they view EVERY passenger as a potential terrorist. Even grandma and the 3 yr old.

Even if you make it through the x ray scan with no problems, you can still be subject to a randomized enhanced patdown.

Poll Results
Thank you for voting.

Do you think the ‘enhanced’ security measures (pat-downs, body scanners) are too invasive, or justified precautions?

They are an invasion of my privacy and offensive. 31%

Terrorists are trying to kill us, we need to do what’s necessary. 55%

I don’t know 14%

You mean like the ongoing saga at the Ground Zero mosque?

"Forty-eight percent of Americans said the pat-downs are justified, while 50% said they are against the new measures"

Most of those people are answering in theory. I wager that the numbers against would rise upwards of 95% if you ask people right after they've been patted down.

How stupid is it to view every person as a potential terrorist!? It’s insane. The terrorists (who 0bama will not call terrorists) have won.

Well, DUH, if the question is

Would you rather have a full body scan or have someone walk behind you and shoot you in the back of the head once you are on the plane?

That is like being a TOTAL OPTIMIST is if you are surrounded by people with guns who you absolutely know ‘don’t like you’, they hand you a shovel and tell you to dig a hole just about your ‘length’. How many fools would dig the hole?

NOT ME.

Expect that number to drop precipitously as more and more people have their nuggets fondled before boarding a plane.

I heard a guy say today that everyone is a potential threat, but if someone grabbed his package he would punch them in the neck.

ABCDisney/WashingtonPost?

The media outlets that employ “Apollo moon landing” denier Whoopi Goldberg (who ranted against the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing on The View/Shrew) and Washington Post with a fabricated “bush’s fault” death list that included a woman who died crossing a highway in Kansas?

THAT is the media source for this BULLSTALIN?!!!
