Al Gore Mea Culpa: Support for Corn-Based Ethanol Was a Mistake [Ooooops....]
Politics Daily ^ | 11/23/10 | Tom Diemer

Now he tells us. Al Gore says his support for corn-based ethanol subsidies while serving as vice president was a mistake that had more to do with his desire to cultivate farm votes in the 2000 presidential election than with what was good for the environment.

And asking for a “reach around” from his massager- he is well named. Gore, as in “Blood, especially that from a wound when thickened due to exposure to the air” .

Or, as a verb”To pierce with the horns. The bull gored the matador.”

We’ve been gored all right with the help of Bob “the dole”.

re: “the govt simply didn’t tax it”

but when competing energy sources ARE taxed then it amounts to a “subsidy” for ethanol in the market price

no, not a “direct” subsidy ala govt expenditures, but making non-ethanol fuel products comparatively more expensive and ethanol less expensive than its competitors

Yes, I think you found a fault, that total lifetime was 7-8 billion, but not per year.

So ethanol saved the economy in total money?

No. It was a burden. An imposed burden, that free people, free markets wouldn’t of chosen.

Tax is a forced burden with a number put to it.

We are just arguing about the number. The force and the burden are facts.

You’re right, we all should always believe Al Gore, particularly when he says he’s wrong about something. Which he has indeed done. This appears to be the very first time that he’s done so.

It’s a lot better to subsidize the “bone-idle bums” (as P.J. O’Rourke called them) in the OPEC countries by buying overpriced oil, than it would be to reopen some land to ethanol production as part of bringing about not only US energy independence, but also an end to the financing of our own demise by the world caliphate.

Al “massage my adductors” Gore does not have a prayer. He is a pariah even amoungst his own kind. He is a joke (albeit a fat one) and hasn’t one ounce of credibility.

There are better ways to do that than wasting time/money on pipe dreams like ethanol.

A good alternative for all this ethanol would be to bottle it, slap on STOLICHNAYA labels, and sell it to the Russians.
