I'm just wondering.
I stand corrected.
A good rule of thumb, though far from certain is to look at the “Ranking Member” of those committees from the precious Congress. That will give you an idea for now.
Someone posted this list in a comment on FR,
it is out there on the internet...
Seniority will almost exclusively reserve the rights to chairmanships.
John Boehner is Chairman. Committee Chairmen..you
are right, is usually seniority. Congrats on your
Navy Service....old salts stick together..JK

I don't have the time to compile the list right now, but if you want a quick look at the existing committee membership, here's a link to all of them.
These are the ranking Republicans, on these committees: Administration, Dan Lungren, of CA; Agriculture, Frank Lucas, OK; Appropriations, Jerry Lewis, CA; Armed Services, Roscoe Bartlett, MD; Budget, Paul Ryan, WI; Education & Labor, Buck McKeon, CA; Energy & Commerce, Joe Barton, TX; Financial Sercies, Spencer Bachus, AL; Foreign Affairs, Ilena Ros-Lehtinen, FL; Homeland Security, Peter King, NY; Judiciary, Lamar Smith, TX; Natural Resources, Doc Hastings, WA; Oversight & Government Reform, Darrel Issa, CA; Science & Technology, Ralph Hall, TX; Small Business, Sam Graves, MO; Transportation & Infrastructure, John Mica, FL; Veterans Affairs, Steve Buyer, IN; and Ways & Means, Dave Camp, MI
We know that the leading prospect to chair the energy committee is a notorious leftist. Hopefully he will NOT be appointed, or there will be an outcry.
I haven’t heard anything similar about the other committees, although no doubt many of the most senior congressmen are RINOs or professional pork dealers.
I’d also be interested to hear an insider opinion. Is the Energy Committee the only one we need to watch? I doubt it.
energy committee: http://joebarton.house.gov/NewsRoom.aspx?FormMode=Detail&ID=622
Only two of the top ten on Barton’s list concern the Energy Committee. Joe’s time would be better spent cleaning house in the DOE and EPA and gettig us back into the business of expanding our domestic energy production.
I can think of a lot of descriptive terms for congress but “Precious” is not one of them d;^)
It was the @#$%^*& auto spell check.
