GOP strategist Karl Rove doesn't think Sarah Palin's reality show will earn her any points for a presidential run, but said Friday that putting three of her 16 book tour stops in Iowa is "a smart thing to do."
Palin is hitting the road, including in the early presidential state, to promote her new book "America By Heart: Reflections on Family, Faith and Flag."
"It gives her an excuse to be there as something other than a candidate, which is really important," Rove said on Fox News.
"That's a pretty smart move if you're thinking about running for president," he added.
As there's no love lost between the former Alaska governor and President George W. Bush's onetime senior adviser, Rove went on to say that Palin had difficultly expanding beyond a "paint-me-red Republican."
"She's got a problem with independents and a problem with Democrats, and over the course of the next year, like all of the Republican candidates, she's got to demonstrate that she has an ability to unify the Republicans and reach outside the Republican ranks," Rove said.
"I mean, in 1980 this was a key test for President Reagan when he ran for the presidential nomination and he demonstrated he can unify the party and that he had a special appeal outside the Republican Party's so-called Reagan Democrats," he added, stressing that Republicans want to win in 2012 and want a candidate who can draw voters from outside the party.
You've been listening and watching the anti-middle America msm, I fear. Mainstream, bedrock, average Americans don't see her as far right or extreme or insane or untrustworthy. Actually, they see her as speaking to what must be replaced for our country to survive, thrive and prosper. Voters are moving to her. She needs to stay right where she is.
Makes me wonder whose toes did Rove crush to receive such audacious accusations, given it was known who the 'talkers' were at the time.
Rove What are your political leanings. seems in DC - Odumbo does not invite you to any parties.
Rove:
You can have Romney, he is too socialist for me.
You can have Huckabee, he is too liberal for me.
You can have Pawlenty, he is not running, as of yet.
You can have Jindahl, he is not running, as of yet.
You can have Barbour, he is not running as of yet.
You can Gingrich too, as he is has been, his dumping his first wife when she had cancer is an indication what he would do to the country, it gets tough and he strives to dump the country.
Rove you love Obama so much you must be his boy toy.
The truth comes out Rove has a problem, he does not like women. Rove is more fearful that Palin will not invite him to any functions.
Rove go away already, how did you help your Rino friend Bush.
In America we want no more Rino’s they are on the endangered political species list. be careful, there is a target on your backside and somebody soon will give you a swift boot to your backside.
Yes, it must be difficult for an "architect" to discover he has been planning shacks and tree houses, while some upstart woman is generating plans for the future.
Igett the sense that as soon as Rove figures out what Palin is up to, he immediately goes public with it and cadges it as advice. When he misreads her intentions, he throws a hissy and smears her instead.
Must have something to do with how the media elevated him (while insulting G.W. Bush) by calling him “Bush’s brain.” Watching Mr. Rove’s recent performance on matters, will only serve to elevate Bush, as it now appears (without much doubt) the president was using his own brain.
I don’t want to hear anything that comes from fat Rove’s ugly piehole. Fox News: when Rove appears on one of your shows, I immediately fast forward or turn the channel. Lose the loser.
It is because of RINOs like Rove that I am outside the Republican ranks. So she IS reaching outside the party to people like me.
Maybe Sarah could buy 8 hours of primetime TV and introduce herself to America, one hour per week. It could be shot in Alaska and be family-friendly show.
Would that be a good idea, Karl?
((((PING))))
Rove is more interested in appeasing Rats and Indies that Republicans.
DING! DING! DING!
We have a winner!!!!
Is it hard for you to see past that RINO beak growing out of your nose?
Is it hard for you to see past that RINO beak growing out of your nose?

I am sure Rove is disappointed that the TV program isn't reaching out drug dealers, illegal aliens, beltway cocktail sippers, Hollywood communists and professional politicians who make up most of the democrat base.
Rove, as a Republican, should be concerned that his party needs to reach out to Sarah.
Rove is wrong again. Reagan didn’t reach out to the Independents and “Reagan Democrats”, they came to him. The economic, military and social situation under Carter became so bad that they gravitated right over to Reagan. The same will happen all over again in 2012.
Well, you’re being reasonable and said something slightly critical of Sarah. Be ready for an onslaught from the cultists.
Well, Mr Rove, I have my leftist girlfriend liking Palin more and more every day. Se even wants to go to the book signing with me.
She could run Pat Buchanan as VP and get even more independent votes!!!!
The more Rove talks .................
