How to Take Down North Korea, Without Waging War
Fox News ^ | November 26, 2010 | Christian Whiton

Posted on 11/28/2010 1:40:18 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

The options for dealing with North Korea from President Obama and the Washington foreign policy establishment have ranged from mediocre to bad. Securing a region vital to the United States, and protecting the freedom won at the cost of tends of thousands of American lives, can only be achieved in the long run by ending the North Korean regime. This can be done peacefully, but only if Washington gets its head in the game with better policies and tools to help the North Korean people liberate themselves.

As with every other crisis in the two-year tenure of our president, the November 23rd North Korean assault on South Korea was met with a dithering response from a commander-in-chief who appears to be in command of little. President Obama refused to deviate from a schedule that took him to Indiana to tout his auto-industry bailout and later had him sit with Mrs. Obama for an interview by Barbara Walters. But Mr. Obama finally did weigh in by stating that “We strongly affirm our commitment to defend South Korea.”

Our democratic allies in the Pacific can be forgiven for doubting this resolve, given that the White House has focused more effort recently on passing the START treaty, which could eviscerate our missile defense and further impair our strategic deterrence, than addressing the threat at hand, with its broadening nuclear ambitions and brazen aggression. Reality is calling, but Mr. Obama refuses to answer, entranced still by his naive nuclear-free-world utopianism and instinctive liberal distrust of America standing up for itself and its allies....

This would be one time it would IMO have been appropriate for him to charge the North Koreans with a waving sword saying “Allah Akbar”.

What was it that Joe Biden said before the 2008 election, something about Obama being tested?

Just have Japan start building nukes with the promise that they won’t continue IF North Korea has a new system within 90 days.

China will take out Kim within 45 days.

How to take down North Korea without waging war - air-drop millions of flyers in Korean showing pictures of free noodles and cabbage, stating it’s free for a year if they overthrow their tyrannical rulers.

You want to stop NoKor peacefully....slap a huge tariff on Commmunist China....the Commie Chinese will stop placating NoKo if their goods now have a 50% tariff.

It is no secret that Kim gets his backing and support from Communist China. Both countries share the same political ideology, and, one-party state control.

Kim has one thing he can always hang on Communist China: If the Commie Chinese do not help....Kim lets his people leave en masse into Commie China. The Commie Chinese do not want millions of starving NoKos streaming into their country.

Unfortunately, the Liberal free Trader Globalists who support Free Trade with Communist China would squeal like little girls if a tariff is slapped on their buddies...the Communist Chinese. The Commie Trifecta of Kim Jong-Il, Communist China, and Free Trader Globalists keeps the US from handling BestKorea as easily and as peacefully as possible.

“Bolton is right. We ought to work to end the regime

Yes, he is, and we should.

But we have a government in Washington that’s essentially Communist, and Communists around the world unite and work together to bring down Capitalism and install Communism everywhere, just like Muslims work to install that hateful Islam everywhere.

This government doesn’t want to bring down a regime it’s sympathetic to.
Nancy Pelosi would like the American fly-over people to be eating grass as the people of North Korea do.

Obama finally did weigh in by stating that “We strongly affirm our commitment to defend South Korea.”

If I were a Korean, I wouldn't find that reassuring.

Liberator

A WWII design, I think we could do better now.

I think you're right. The ONLY thing propping up NK is, China.

We need to find out just how far China is willing to go to support them. Of course, if we do... China might decide to see just how far we are willing to support Taiwan.

Walmart wouldn't let that happen.

Surprisingly (to me, anyway) my friends in South Korea always tell me they are NOT afraid of North Korea. To a man, they all believe re-unification is inevitable. They believe NK's aggressiveness is always only done as a ploy to obtain cash and concessions from the US.

Frankly... they are MORE worried about the US starting a new war than they are NK.
