What liberals really mean is you should live your life as the government deems fit. “Sustainable community” is a buzzword for servitude to the state. Let’s not be fooled.

They see "sustainable living" as a goal and they seek to put everyone into urban environments like Newark, Detroit, and East St Louis. Because -- you know -- those are sustainable environments.

Meanwhile, rural communities where people plant gardens, raise chickens, and have access to firewood -- these are areas which must be abandoned as unsustainable for human habitation.

Have I got this right?

I had always been suspicious of the word 'sustainable' and this article confirms it. Any time we hear a buzzword coming from the govt that sounds good on the surface, you can bet it's some combination of 1)raising your taxes (directly or indirectly), 2) taking away individual liberty 3) expanding govt. Liberals have to sugarcoat their ideas to sell.

The term "sustainable community" is an offspring of the term "sustainable development," which was coined by the World Commission on Environment and Development back in 1987, and refined in Agenda 21, adopted by 179 nations (including the U.S.) at the U.N. Conference on Environment and Development in 1992.

The same UN Agenda 21 that said the US landmass can only support 26 million people (10% of its population at the time, before uncontrolled and illegal immigration pushed the total over 300 million).

The question not answered was how to dispose of the other 90% of the US population.

What the term "sustainable development" really means is development that is dictated by or otherwise approved by government.

The term "sustainable communities" means communities that are dictated by or otherwise approved by government.

These codes go far beyond building and fire safety codes. They include: residential, property maintenance, energy conservation, wildland interface, and other behavior modification codes.

A sustainable community is a community around which government draws an Urban Boundary Zone (UBZ) and forbids city services to be delivered outside the UBZ, prohibits new construction outside the UBZ, and requires residents within the UBZ to live in housing that meets the size and cultural integration standards set forth in the code or comprehensive plan. Sustainable communities are high-density communities where automobiles are discouraged, and bikeways and walkways are the alternative to public transportation.

A small tidbit from a small rural town near me: instead of just widening a rather well-used road out of town, the town and state used the project to install more water and sewer and extend their tenticles. Fair enough, that is their right. But they are also adding bike lanes on a rural road on which nobody in their right mind is going to ride a bicycle. We do get a few suicidal morons from the city on some of our rural roads, but even if they choose to ride on that stretch with bike lanes, they will end up on a suicidal road where the bike lanes end.

Take a look at this: www.takingliberty.us

AGENDA 21 is being implemented from Hawaii to Florida.

The Wildlands Project which is mandated by the unratified UN Treaty, Convention on Biological Development. Has the goal of “50% of the land in Core Reserves with little to no human use. These Core Reserves will be surrounded by Buffer Zones and interconnected with wildlife corroriders.

This country is being transformed by this.

Volusia County, Fl just approved spending $28.8 million to purchase 4,806 acres to add to the Volusia Conservation Corridor. This was after they had cut $21million from the budget due to lack of revenue. They are set to adopt Smart Growth as County policy next.

Very interesting. This really illustrates the point that once you have your home connected to any government-owned infrastructure — whether it be roads, water/sewer lines, or anything else of that sort — you’ve really even up an awful lot of your freedom.
