At one time morality and ethics comprised an important aspect of determining trustworthiness and security acceptability based upon some insight into the character of the individual one was considering granting clearance to.
Whether somebody is a thief, an alcoholic, a drug abuser, cheats on their spouse, beats their spouse, chooses to engage in homosexual sex to get their rocks off, etcetera... --when something is not quite right (abnormal) or 'wrong' in one aspect of thier character then all other aspects are suspect and they are a risk...
How stupid and politically correct do "we" as a society have to become regarding the security of our nation to not see that one who chooses to engage in self destruction would not himself be a security risk...

It is worth asking how did he get in this trusted position given, well, that he could not in fact be trusted. Someone or several someones dropped the ball.
I'm not sure his having a British parent and an American parent have much relevance either except he apparently does not like his father, who I think is the American.
Reading that he was being discharged for an "adjustment disorder" when the Feds learned of this, gives me pause.

His homosexuality self destructive condition that predisposes him to pursuit disordered sexual activities that are at best abnormal and at worst lethal is irrelevant. He didn't steal these secret materials under threat of coercion afraid someone would "out" him. He was clearly "out loud and proud" a security risk -a train accident waiting to happen per his Facebook account and should have had his clearance revoked and been discharged much earlier than he was
