Ping.
But I think this is a trick...to make switch grass a subsidized crop...because I don’t believe it has any value on its own...so farmers wind up getting paid premium for something they would never even think of growing.
Too many to list, I'll bet your thinking of some doozeys right now!
Mr. Gore is a liarholic.
The Goron is as arrogant as Ears.
An Inconvenient Truth, indeed.
He should have invested in a fine Tennessee whiskey:
George Dickle knows how to turn corn into something cost effective. Charcoal filtered and far better than the other well-known brand! :)
(No, my interest is only on the drinkin side.)
The one good thing about switch grass is that it can be grown on what is otherwise a farmer’s unarable land. I think there is room for debate on whether or not its a good idea to jumpstart this idea with subsidies esxpecially as a sop to the farmers for stopping their ethanol subsidy.
I despise Al Gore, but I have to admit that every now and then he can be extremely frank about how his motivations have been driven purely by political considerations.
Clarence Thomas told a similar story in his autobiography. During his Senate confirmation hearings and Al Gore was a U.S. Senator, Gore was very open about his approach: He thought Clarence Thomas would make a fine Supreme Court justice and would vote for his confirmation under normal circumstances, but Gore also had possible presidential aspirations and intended to vote against Thomas' confirmation if he decided to move forward with a presidential bid in 1992 or 1996.
Clarence Thomas said this ultimately didn't help his own cause in the confirmation process, but he actually found that kind of honesty refreshing.
Yes TN has a long and fine tradition on what to do with corn alcohol.

If Gore was Pinocchio, his neck wouldn’t be able to support the weight of his head.
As much as I loath AlGore I give him credit for admitting his mistake here. I doubt he will otherwise recant because he has money invested in other harebrained eco schemes that would never see the light of day without Federal handouts.
One shouldnt single out Gore or the democrats on the ethanol issue. If you have ever followed a presidential primary leading up to the Iowa caucus, you know that both parties pander to the agriculture lobby. I’ll give Gore this, he at least admitted what few republicans would even though they are just as guilty. This is a great moment. This is a tailor made wedge issue in this tea party climate to single out the panderers in the republican party running for congressional and presidential office in 2012. Simply vote for the guy who takes a stand and opposes the subsidy. Will dems take advantage of this in farm states? Probably but never has there been a time when even dems and liberal greenies opposed the subsidy more. It might not help a dem candidate to support it.
Not with all the money big agriculture pumps into politicians' campaign accounts.
If Gore was Pinocchio, his neck wouldnt be able to support the weight of his head.

That’s good, because he needs to be hanging that head in damn shame!
Weak, filthy, whore of a man.
That brings up a good point. If ethanol can compete with $2.70 a gallon gasoline, how come whiskey costs $50 a gallon?
LOL. Well aside from sitting in charred oak barrels for X years, unlike fuel ethanol which is subsidized, whiskey is taxed to hell and back.
