Foreign firefighting crews have begun to arrive in Israel to help battle a massive forest fire out of control in the north of the country.
Further global assistance is due to arrive later on Friday, as fire crews battled high winds driving the blaze towards the city of Haifa.

Aircraft from Bulgaria, Jordan, Greece and the UK have arrived, after Israel issued a rare request for foreign assistance.
Planes from Cyprus, Turkey and Russia were on their way, while flame-retardant materials were being flown in from France, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman said.
"The Russians are sending and we are waiting for the biggest firefighting plane in the world... an Antonov with huge firefighting capacity," he told Israel Radio.

Not so all alone ping.
Fire on Mt Carmel was brought under control. The worst is now apparently over after it looked grim yesterday.
Those forty prison guards drove into an inferno and got roasted. Apparently, Israel hasn't experienced anything like this and was simply unprepared.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.

The assistance Zero offered was two radical mullahs... but its the thought that counts!
Muslims have a bad habit of starting forest fires in Israel as a part of jihad so I don’t understand how they can be unprepared. How did this fire start anyway?
There are questions raised about proper equipment being on hand and have a strategy to deal with a major fire. As for the guards, who appeared to be Druze, the fact of the matter is they couldn’t get away in the time. The fire was just too fast for them to outrun it.
No one knows exactly. Arson is still the leading theory but an investigation is needed to ascertain how it started - but there is doubt the dead and dessicated vegetation, high temperatures and high winds provided the perfect fuel for this fire to combust into a raging inferno.
It was sad to read of the death and destruction of what was most likely a deliberately set fire.
It was with profound relief to read of the countries responding to Israel’s request for aid.
Yes, no so alone!
Our local paper has a story detailing why the bus could not get away from the fire. A tree had fallen and blocked the road.
Of course, nothing like that could ever happen anywhere else. /s
I believe there were 400 victims of the last documented fire on Mt Carmel. Ironically, they were the spiritual forerunners of todays idol-worshiping enemies of Israel...
Arson is suspected.
Return of Elijah.
Are you suggesting that he raise the dead?
Wouldn’t be the first time.
The forest was very dry, and there had been a burst of hot weather. That alone would be a natural explanation. However, there are rumours that the fire started in a garbage dump - apparently, there are illegal garbage dumps in the area. Arson is also a possibility. But nothing is known, yet.
Perhaps Muslim self combustion..
A horrific description of the deaths. I hope it is contained soon.
