That bill [repeal DADT] appears to have the 60 votes necessary to proceed through the Senate — but not until tax cuts are addressed.

Actually, the rats look to be at least 1 short since Joe Manchin is not going for it. And I did not count the two Arkansas Dem senators who voted back in September against DADT cloture. And now RINO Collins is falling back for the full tax cuts.

I’m not quite sure where this is coming from.

Wasn’t it earlier this week that all 42 Republican senators signed a letter stating, in effect, that nothing else was happening until a vote extending Bush-era tax cuts for everyone was held?

If this is such a necessity why isn't the military clamoring for it? If they wanted a repeal I'm sure the military would make it happen. This is all about 0blahblah paying back one of his few remaining constituencies. If I were a senate Republican I'd say screw this unless you can show me where military readiness would be enhanced. This is what we should be asking of these progressive hacks. WHAT IS THE BENEFIT TO THE MILITARY OF A REPEAL? If the only answer is "It's a matter of fairness" or some such pablum, then no repeal. This goes for the other issue not getting as much air play, allowing women to serve aboard submarines.

I’m just praying for this to drag out long enough so that it won’t come up for a vote during the Lame Duck session. That should kill it for the rest of the Obama administration. The new Senate will not let it come up for a vote. Plus, the new House will kill it as well.

Mr. Obama won’t be reelected. The next POTUS will be a full spectrum (Ronald Reagan)conservative (from fiscal to social issues) and this nonsense will cease.

Folks, it is time for all good men (citizens) to come to the aid of their country. The threat this minority of homosexuals poses to the nation needs to been stomped out with the truth. We need to start educating the public that homosexuality is not a good thing and HOLLYWOOD and the PRESS are just plain wrong to call it an alternative lifestyle. We need to swing public opinion back away from this “I’m OK, you’re are OK” nonsense on this issue. Homosexuality is deviant, perverse, and just plain dysfunctional (immoral too). It is not a thing to be consider OK.

It trully is time to stop the extreme tip of the dog’s tail from wagging the entire dog. They are an extremely vocal and organized SMALL (1-3% and I don’t believe they are more than 1%) minority. They should NOT be allowed to continue to disrupt this country and threaten our military readiness in order to “validate” their deviancy. It is incredible to me that they even are given a public forum and more so that the congress (even a democratic one) would be so messed up to consider them worth considering.

These politicians make me sick. They don’t act on what’s in the country’s interest, they act according to what interest group screams the loudest. A government like that can’t help but end badly.

Don’t sexual harassment laws in the workplace cover any issues homosexuals have? You can’t curse at work, you can’t touch anyone at work, you sure can’t come on to anyone at work. So what’s the difference?????

Democrats hoping to move forward with legislation other than tax cuts shouldn't look to centrist Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) to break the logjam.

So much wrong with the use of that term here...

Collins said again on Friday that, while she would vote with Democrats to end the military's "Don't ask, don't tell" policy, she wouldn't do so until a debate over tax cuts has been resolved.

The democrat infighting continues.

"Once the tax issue is resolved, I have made it clear that if the Majority Leader brings the Defense Authorization bill to the floor with sufficient time allowed for debate and amendments, I would vote to proceed to the bill," she said in a statement.

This is good news. She's honoring her party's commitments, at least in the area of fiscal responsibility.

This strengthens the GOP hand through the rest of the lame duck session and into next year.

If Collins had not required the ten year trigger back in 2001, we wouldn’t be in this mess now.

If we wanted to end all this “don’t ask, don’t tell” nonsense, all we would need to do is re-institute the draft and make a law that states that at least 25% of the enlisted ranks must be comprised of non-volunteer draftees. Then you would see the Homosexual lobby crying for a return to the law that categorically prohibits homosexuals from being members of the Armed Services.

The nation is sinking to the bottom of the lake, awash in debt, and DADT is treated as if it is something of importance? The US will not afford an army when the tax hikes take effect.

Please let it die until next session. There are now 63 congressman who need to go before the will of the people is reflected.

I do wonder if the ban of the DADT policy is lifted the one percent not ten percent as lied to in psychology/sociology books since the early 1980's nor the lies the homosexual community began spewing almost immediately AFTER AIDS was found in openly homosexual communities in the Castro District in SF and Greenwich Village are of NY[don't remember exactly where in NY, relying on my mushy brain])that homosexuality is not just a homosexual issue. Well, of course not now!.

Okay, so homosexuals DO get their way. What of living quarters for mates? What of the Bisexual folks that may be doinking women on post of off post/bases. When will common law marriages between open homosexuals in the military begin planning their marriages on base, and moving in their lovers and demand say extra arrangement for their mates and surrogate children? Or the adopted children or children created by other women, need an oven? Will there be free clinics on base for those wishing surrogates or amniocentesis? Laws are different from state to state, even on homosexual adoption

What of children of openly homosexual parents going to school on base and such? There's a milieu of reasons NOT to even consider such a huge barrage of legal issues which are not aren't even worked out yet in the civilian world.

I do think there would be more lawyers, more battles in the legal divisions tying up JAG's and (yee gads) the ACLU. Now guys( and some gals) that have been homosexual were good soldiers. And what of all the soldiers that, after being released from service for their homosexuality start civil suits against the military from back pay to retroactive shanges in their discharge papers?

AND as far as I've read the "genetic link is BS propaganda. It's been wrong for thousands of years for that reason, it's just not seen as normal behavior by man, beast or God but it's now so PCV; which doesn't mean it's RIGHT! nor moral.
