Man, the Coast Guard always gets effed in the scheme of things because they were lumped in with Commerce and not DoD. That ain't right. Now they get effed for being part of the Direktorat of Domestic Civilian Kontrol. We need to abolish that stain on American history post haste, establish a new Office of Civil Defense, and make the USCG the lead dog.

I didn’t say I’m happy that he’s CinC, just that he has been doing a decent job at it. I don’t know that McCain would have been any better.

By contrast, the last Dem president we had hated the military, and his contempt for members of the Armed Forces was obvious.

I really don’t find much fault with Obama as CinC. He went to visit the troops, and he said the right things.

He went to Afghanistan in a "Wag the Dog" trip - so's he'd be outta town when the 9.8% unemployment figures hit (and let poor Plugs face the cameras) - among other things.

He stood at the podium and read the written-by-someone-else words on TOTUS.

Let me guess, you don't have a close family member fighting in the 'ghan under his new ROE that are callibrated to protect the Taliban over our troops - have resulted in DOUBLE KIA each month under his 'rule.' Not only do some Coast Guard serve in the ‘ghan, they are out on the seas and in the air - in all weather - 24/7, protecting our hineys.

Most people - including the CIC - haven't a CLUE about what our Coast Guard does.

(My sil flies a CG Hercules C130 - he is in different degrees of danger daily. He and the rest ‘have our backs’ as we go blissfully about our days and sleep good at night - without a thought as to who's out there ‘GUARDING OUR COASTS.’
