Is your point, abolishing the tax cuts is a tax increase?

My point is if last year a tax rate was X% and this year it Y%, and Y>X you have had a tax increase.

Who wrote that headline? The Saudi prince?

I hope I didn’t come off as cruel. I think that exchange shows how easy it is, for ALL of us, to be swayed by smooth talking snakes unless we are constantly on guard and skeptical.

Biased headline. Could have easily said “Republicans reject tax increases only for high earners”.

Somehow the democrats discovered that Bush actually cut taxes for the middle class.
I hate lying liberals.

And to anyone who sees me sliding down the statist path, even slightly, please please correct me. I would consider it a public service. We’re all in this together.

Maybe I misunderstand what the vote was about. I understand it as a vote against raising the highest tax rates. Am I mistaken?

They say there is no such thing as a dumb question, so I will ask away.
If no legislation is passed in the lame duck session regarding tax rates, can the new congress pass legislation that would be retroactive to Jan.1 2011? If they can with their new numbers, then the burden would be placed directly on Obama would it not?
To: Tempest
Alright how many Republicans voted in favor of extending middle class tax cuts?I hafta wonder if the Republicans would support entending the tax cuts for the rich only...Seems they've done this in the past...

The point is to retain the current rates for EVERYONE.
It is nice to see the Republicans in the Senate showing some backbone for a change.

Sure it’s possible. The democrats passed a retroactive tax increase. Why couldn’t you pass a retroactive tax cut.

Im sure that sounds logical and reasonably to millions of Fox viewers. The Democrats subscribe, in part, to the P.T. Barnum theory of taxation.

“The voters” want a BIG government nanny state with lots of free handouts, goodies and freebies. They just want somebody else to pay for it. Alexis de Tocqueville was right. America is in BIG trouble.
