I’ve been reading AP “news” reports since before 9/11 and it’s only been in the last couple of years, since Hussein’s take-over, that the term has been used frequently by the anti-American media. The question becomes, what’s in it for them, propaganda-wise, to keep doing so?

After all, weren’t the South Korean civilians killed by “indirect fire”? I didn’t see that term used for that “one-off” “isolated incident”.

You know that the reason the terrorists have been attacking constantly is because Obastard’s ROE are prohibiting our soldiers and Marines from mounting an effective offense and wiping them out once and for all.

Indirect fire = mortar attacks = rocket attacks = artillery attack

Good Lord, this is a VERY easy one. Quit looking for conspiracies where there are none.

Our troops are the greatest!!! This war has a resemblance to WW1. This is Obama’s war to prove he was a tough guy during the campaign. Afghanistan is not worth fighting for. Nation building won’t work there. Bring the troops home and secure our own borders.

Obastard’s ROE....makes my blood boil!
Take the gloves off & let our military wipe them all out.

That is only because the LAMEstream Media is just now getting around to using the correct terms from the military.

The FOB at Shkin, AFG cam under heavy indirect firs every single day for a four month period in the summer of 2005. We could see the “troops” setting up the rocket launchers in the middle of the night. Each rocket launcher had its own timer, and each was set up on a wielded three leg launcher. There was little to no aiming, it was all “Inshalllah”.

But if you “Inshallah” with several hundred rockets, only one has to hit to make their day.

I’ve said it before, and nobody yet has contradicted me: we should buy their poppies! Right now, we waste time and resources burning their fields in “fighting” the War on Drugs rather than actually fighting the War on Terrorism.

If we just bought their poppy crop, we would keep opium off the black market (denying terrorists drug money), the farmers would have reason to help us instead of the Taliban (greatly decreasing attacks on us and stabilizing their government), and we would alleviate the worldwide shortage of legal opiates. In the long run, this would be safer and cheaper than military operations. Whatever happened to winning hearts and minds?

Am I wrong?

Interesting. But who should hear about it? What Department or Committee? Find out, write up the proposal, and let them have it. I was wondering about why it wouldn’t work, and I guess it might have to do with the fact that the Taliban is the drug cartel, right? So to harvest the flowers and sell to a market, not the Taliban, the farmer may lose his life?

“So to harvest the flowers and sell to a market, not the Taliban, the farmer may lose his life?”

Good point. In the short term, we would have to protect each farmer as he harvested, then make sure he could buy his own gun out of the proceeds. Politically, I suppose the usual suspects would accuse us of “imperialism” and “colonialism.” However, the sooner the Afghans can defend themselves, the faster our troops can go to Mexico to do it all over again.

And that’s a whole other discussion...

I had a team write a proposal four years ago and send to the Pentagon and our Congresscritters suggesting exactly that. As an alternative we suggested that we pay poppy prices for growing wheat. It would of been about 40% of the cost of the military effort at that time. Not one word back except from the Congressman I know and he said thanks.

No profit to be made either politically or financially.

Ah, yes, that must be it. When my back was turned, I fully threw my loyalty behind Obama and the entire collective militaries of the world changed the classification of artillery, rockets, and mortars from “indirect fire” to “direct fire” weapons all so the press could write stories that were favorable to Obama.

Either that or you don’t know what you’re talking about.
