NO ONE IS GETTING A TAX CUT. This is just posturing to keep taxes where there are right now... exorbitantly high.

This might be a sign that he’s weak and will cave on everything else in the next 2 years.

I guess we don’t need to teach them elementary parliamentary procedure, but I sure hope they hold out for more than a two year extension.

Otherwise, no matter who wins the 2012 election, Obama will be in a position to use the next lame-duck session to block any further extenstion. And he would have nothing to lose in that case, blocking the extension and leaving the Republicans to straighten out the resultant mess.

Three years, at least, I hope.

I hope they deal properly with Estate Tax issues. It should be 5,000,000 per person and 10,000,000 for a husband/wife.

Obama will not sign a tax cuts extensions for wealthy unless bill also includes exentsion of unemployment benefits

So job creators who risk their capital get to keep more than half of what they earn, only so long as Obama voters get to keep 100% of what they do NOT earn.

He wants the stimulus breaks extended as well...just so he can put HIS name on it. He can’t stand the term ‘Bush era tax cuts’.

What an infant. Give him a binky and send him up for a nap.

Whatever Obama WON'T SIGN...... he OWNS...

If he brakes(vetos) the funding he OWNS the problems caused by it..

Fox will report it.. the main stream no long controls the news..

Let him Veto and veto and veto again.. until January when it can be passed anyway over the Veto..

Then passed in the HOUSE, the Senate will have their Scrotums on the line..
CAUSE... the TpCaucus is WATCHING.... and they ALL know it..

Why don’t we start calling this the Obama/Democrat tax hike on small businesses? What do you think will happen to payrolls when small business owners get hit with the Obama tax HIKE in January? Hmmm..?

I hope this is wrong, because I would prefer that nothing got passed in the lame duck session.

The longer they take on this the less time they have to spend pushing other stuff we dont want votes on right now like DADT.

DADT has no chance of passing come January, all that sort of stuff needs to be put off until the new Republicans are seated.

No surprise here -- in fact, I suspect this was a done deal more than a week ago. I think the extension of the current tax rates was priced into the rise of the U.S. stock market last week.

Also . . .

When you think about it, there's really no way in hell they could ever allow the estate tax to kick back in suddenly. If the estate tax were re-imposed on January 1st of 2011, you'd have a lot of wealthy old people offing themselves by December 31st just to let their heirs keep all of their assets.

As I said in another thread... given the urgency of the moment (since the lame duck session is still Democratic controlled), COMPROMISE on unemployment and a 2 year limit on ALL tax cuts extensions ( including the death tax ).

THEN, come next year, pass a bill to MAKE ALL BUSH TAX CUTS PERMANENT and we’ll have MORE time to fight the Dem Senate and Obama and make this an issue come 2012 if they don’t cooperate.

As Dubya would say, that’s the STATEGERY !!
