WikiLeaks releases nearly impossible to stop
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 12/8/10 | Andrew Ross

Posted on 12/08/2010 8:14:23 AM PST by SmithL

Sen. Dianne Feinstein wants to prosecute Julian Assange for espionage.

The founder of WikiLeaks "intentionally harmed the U.S. government," says Feinstein, who chairs the Senate Intelligence Committee. By releasing 250,000 State Department cables, he also violated the 1917 Espionage Act by transmitting "information which the possessor has reason to believe could be used to the injury of the United States or to the advantage of any foreign nation," Feinstein, D-Calif., charged in a Wall Street Journal opinion piece Tuesday.

To John Perry Barlow, co-founder of San Francisco's Electronic Frontier Foundation, "The first serious infowar is now engaged. The field of battle is WikiLeaks." The Mill Valley resident (according to his Facebook profile) tweeted to followers: "You are the troops."

If there's any doubt which side Barlow is on, he helpfully provides a list of "mirror" sites that carry the material originally posted on the disabled WikiLeaks official site. "Let a thousand mirrors shine," Barlow tweeted.

On the other hand, Larry Sanger, co-founder of San Francisco's Wikipedia (no relation), says Assange is "an international outlaw," and believes the New York Times and other papers that have taken feeds from WikiLeaks have "done something that could be really damaging to the United States."

And so it goes.

...jokers

..current policy from the white house.....

I am fearful that Obama will continue on through the Wicked Gate without impeachment....
This is all deliberate, maliciously intended and purposeful in Obamas nefarious agenda of bringing down the west. Take down America, the leader, and the rest follows. Assange is just a little player like Rosa Brooks but cumulatively they have their effect. For Asssange? Obama eased his path. Much like Obama is easing the path for the OIC based UN to come into the US to hunt “War Criminals”.
America has been thoroughly infiltrated and its natural defenses penetrated to the nth degree with Obama collaborators.
Obama , culturally never was an American as he carries many chips on his shoulder and as we see from his old culture at many levels. He feels for his Kenyan identity, he feels for his muslim identity, and he feels his angst against white and America....

On top of it, Obama is a Muslim wanabe or Wahabe, I call him a ghazi.

“One of the prettiest sounds on earth” is the Muslim call to prayer at sunset.
Barack Hussein Obama as quoted by Nicholas D. Kristof in the New York Times - March 6, 2007

• The FIRST thing Obama did as a newly elected Illinois State Senator was to attempt to declare a Muslim holiday. Obama sponsored Bill SR0110 in the 90th General Assembly to declare November 1, 1997 to be Islamic Community Center Day. It did not pass.

All this brings on a interesting question... how can America have any struggle against Islam, or protect herself with the most powerful muslim in the world sitting in the White House?

Be wary, wary aware ....and wary, wary afraid...get prepared for more creeping sharia...more than what is coming out of the White House today

“The founder of WikiLeaks “intentionally harmed the U.S. government,” says Feinstein”

Good ole John Wayne Feinstein rides again!

Of course, we will see what happens when the little twink that actually STOLE the information is prosecuted.

Me thinks SanFran Diane will suddenly go silent.

To John Perry Barlow, co-founder of San Francisco's Electronic Frontier Foundation, "The first serious infowar is now engaged. The field of battle is WikiLeaks." The Mill Valley resident (according to his Facebook profile) tweeted to followers: "You are the troops."

He's engaging in criminal conspiracy to propagate stolen documents.

Knock on his door today.

Like law enforcement agencies haven't been able to successfully prosecute those who host or download other illegal content from the web... < /sarcasm >

There is no WILL to prosecute these traitors.

WikiLeaks only exposed more of our corrupt Federal Government . We knew already that Washington is so rotten corrupt that they are destroying our Country. I do not agree with WikiLeaks but it has woken up the dead heads in America. Perhaps that is the catalysts that will save America. WikiLeaks is a two sided sword and both sides of the issue maybe are right. Maybe two wrongs are?????????????

In my humble opinion, Wikileaks and any media that prints the stolen information is guilty of trafficking in stolen property. At the least they should be prosecuted for that. They should also be held responsible for any actions that result from this leak - like the deaths of US servicemen or our informants.

I can’t seem to locate any articles that show where Feinstein was calling for the prosecution of the New York Times for publishing leaked classified documents and CIA procedures while Bush was president.

Indeed, this like someone receiving an inside trader tip over the phone, we don’t go demanding that the phone network be regulated to oblivion. No we go after the people who commited the crime. Wanting to “control the internet” is like blaming the gun for the mass shooting incident instead of the gunman.

You know I already had mixed feelings about this whole thing to begin with now that Feinstein want’s him prosecuted even more so.

Seems right after Assaunge stated 9/11 wasn’t a conspiracy the liberals started to attack him.

I am happy he exposed how the Arabs really feel about Iran.

IMHO I think most of what he is releasing makes the liberal’s and obama look bad.

As for our troops having served myself I feel strongly about freedom of speech and freedom of the press. I think the person who stole the information (Manning and whomever) are more to blame. Now Manning that’s another story he was in the service of our country and should be punished to the max and anyone else in our own government who aided him.

Besides there is also the issue of the other news organizations who published the leaks like the NY Slimes will they be punished equally then? Somehow I doubt it.

Julian Assaunge...

“I’m constantly annoyed that people are distracted by false conspiracies such as 9/11, when all around we provide evidence of real conspiracies, for war or mass financial fraud,”

I agree with you. The feds were only able to convict Capone on tax evasion charges, but that was effective and put him behind bars. If there was a true will within the Obama Justice Dept, they would use whatever means was necessary to stop the leaking documents. They don’t go after the NYT because they’re hiding behind the First Amendment and also the NYT is for the most part friendly to the Obama Administration (yeah, I know that is an understatement). And I don’t for a second think that it was that little twerp Manning who stole all of the documents.

I learned an old adage once that seems to be true most of the time, "What You Resist, Persists".

Those who are subject to embarassment by the Wikileaks cables, should justs hunker down, weather the storm, and place the emphasis of their ire on whatever is allowing these jerks to get the information to PUT on the internet.

Blocking the internet is like killing the messenger, and the only people who want to kill the messenger are the ones the messenger is exposing.

For instance, we didn't need the information gleaned so far from WL to know we have a Congress full of corruption, and that heads of state say bad things about other heads of state. The only difference here is, now everybody knows.

It may be the "control-alt-delete" we need in foreign relations, starting from here with more honesty and less phoniness. But killing the web is NOT the cure...it will just make it worse.

Someone needs to set up a peer-to-peer network as a contingency getting out the word in case the unthinkable happens and they do take down the net. A large computer/telephone bank where people would dial into to get the latest scoop. It's the sort of thing we were doing back in the 80's with a Commodore 64...primitive by today's standards, but it works...any port in a storm, I say.

Obama is NOT to be trusted because of his sudden lean to the center with the TAX bill; he had no choice, and his ratings are in the toilet. Like most con men, he will smile and do what is necessary to climb back to a position where he can more easily stab us in the back again. It's his nature and he will not change.

I have little use for someone who is nice only because they are forced to be. For all we know all the ire from the left is being staged to instill false confidence in the GOP, making them overreach.

After all the nuclear transfers, guidance transfers, stolen technology over the years since Clinton was CIC, the powers that be come upon this transgression as being the worst? Something is fishy my friends, me thinks that this is misdirection. Somewhere else something very important is going on.

It isn't just 0 and his ilk, the Republicans have their part in this kind of thing too. It cannot happen because one party turns their head, that party is complicit and shares the goal of a 0ne W0rld system.
