EXCLUSIVE: Iran's nuclear program is still in chaos despite its leaders' adamant claim that they have contained the computer worm that attacked their facilities, cybersecurity experts in the United States and Europe say.
The American and European experts say their security websites, which deal with the computer worm known as Stuxnet, continue to be swamped with traffic from Tehran and other places in the Islamic Republic, an indication that the worm continues to infect the computers at Iran's two nuclear sites.
The Stuxnet worm, named after initials found in its code, is the most sophisticated cyberweapon ever created. Examination of the worm shows it was a cybermissile designed to penetrate advanced security systems. It was equipped with a warhead that targeted and took over the controls of the centrifuge systems at Irans uranium processing center in Natanz, and it had a second warhead that targeted the massive turbine at the nuclear reactor in Bashehr.

The Iranian regime eventually taken down by a worm....how appropriate.
Allahu akhbar!
and Mazel tov....
Hey, Stux to be them.
Holy malware, Batman!
BANG! POW! CRACK!!
G-d Bless Israel!
Why would a nuclear weapons program have a link to the outside world? And if it was on their own network, why wasn’t drives locked down?
My bet is the system admins real name was Moshe.
We always knew that Obama wouldn’t be the worm to do it.
the beauty of it. the Iranians will never know or trust their systems for a very long time.
Stux propegates through various ways, but most likely it was by a USB stick taken into the network.
Go read up about it. It’s a pretty neat little bit of malware that is terrifically focused at centrifuge drives
Agreed. Go Mossad, go. This is fantastic.
Perfect!
I know a conspiracy nut who believes the stuxnet worm got out of control and caused the gulf oil explosion.
I was wondering why such sensitive systems wouldn't be on a private network. If you're right about the memory stick, then someone has successfully infiltrated Iran's nuclear program.
Golly! Those bullies at Mossad need a good talking too!
I think they should have their lox removed from their bagels for at least one week to punish them for being mean to the Iranians!
If I had to take a guess at it, I would bet that it was attached to some porn CDs that were sold dirt cheap from shops around the suspected sites.
It wouldn’t take long from that point.
Tell him there are no centrifuges on a drilling rig.
Won't change his belief, I am sure, but at least it will stun him a second.
I read that the target network was in fact a private network, “air gapped” so that there was no direct link with the internet. What the attackers evidently did was infect as many personal computers as possible, all around the private network. The thinking was that sooner or later, someone would break the rules somehow, and the worm could jump the air gap. Maybe an outside laptop hooked up to the the private network. Maybe someone found a non-locked-down USB port and loaded something from home. Maybe somebody snuck in a bootleg Lady Gaga CD and found a non-locked-down cd drive. All it took was patience.
