Kayaker presumed dead after Congo crocodile attack By Jenny Gross - JOHANNESBURG | An acclaimed South African outdoorsman who was leading a kayaking expedition from the source of the White Nile into Congo was dragged from his craft by a crocodile as two Americans watched, horrified. Wild animals hunt, kill and eat things. Talk about putting yourself in harm’s way - for no real reason except excitement and money.

Yeah - don’t go anywhere near crocs unless you are a big Hippo with an attitide. One reason why I like Hippos. They just want to be left alone but if people mess with them or their children then look out.

Kayaking in crocodile infested waters... I think that qualifies for the Darwin Award.

People don’t realize that, in some parts of the world, when you leave the safety of your home or auto you then become a part of the food chain, and not the top!

I spent about a month in Northern Australia bush and almost a year in Zim and RSA. The outcome was just about 100% predictable. If the crocs had not gotten him first the hippos would have at some point. Or the locals would have eaten them. Plus, they will have their guts rot out from all the parasites. Too bad for the family.

An acclaimed South African outdoorsman who was leading a kayaking expedition
from the source of the White Nile into Congo was dragged from his craft
by a crocodile as two Americans watched, horrified. The guide is presumed dead.

And nobody in the expedition had a .454 or .500 revolver on hand for such
an encounter?
Anyone that enters a place with crocodiles, alligators, grizzlies,
brown bears, etc. without serious firepower-—
they assume the risk.

Teddy Roosevelt, would have killed the crocodile
and given the “bittee” a chance of survival.
By “busting a cap in the @$$” of the crok!!!

I guess these folks have never watched “I Shouldn’t Be Alive”
on Discovery or Animal Channel.
