First you must assume that the suicide claim is accurate,

Then you must assume that he sent the text himself rather than someone else sending it from his phone (a common scam w/ lost phones),

Then you must assume that he put his eternal destiny is the ‘hope’ of something completely contrary to his culture.

Seems like a lot of assumptions needed to support the initial belief.

It seems more likely that the Madoff’s stole money from the wrong people and they sent a message to Bernie.

"Most folks know the reference here is to phone texting, not a textbook. Another spin-off of our tech society."

My apologies if anyone inferred anything different.

Yet his bitch mother is stll fighting for assets. What a scum of a family and all those whose names have not been released yet.

One man doesn’t bilk these many people. It takes multiple connections along with banks.

The problem with hanging is you have a few minutes to reconsider your decision while you strangle.

Yeah, that's gotta be a rough way to go. It would seem to me that the old pistol down the throat is a better way. Quick.

News reported the (ex?)wife getting a disturbing message from him indicating to her to have someone come check on the two-year old, so she contacted her father, who went to the home and discovered the man dead, and the baby still sleeping.

Madoff’s evil. This son had the conscience his father lacked and he had nothing to with it, or his father and his mother.
Very sad. May his soul rest in peace and prayers for his very young children.

It was bad enough his wife petitioned the court to change her last name and that of their two children due to death threats and so forth.

He may or may not have known what was going on but he did turn his father in. The article suggests his work took place in a separate part of the firm.

The pressure of innumerable lawsuits, difficulty finding work due to his father's crimes, investigations, threats and related firestorms can be extreme. Even if innocent, he'd never have his reputation or even his name.

I’m not so sure the sons weren’t involved (and this suicide makes me even more suspicious); the fact that they “turned in” their father when the fund withdrawals had basically drained the cash makes this very suspect (the fraud was about to be discovered anyway). If they had turned him in while there was still boatloads of cash to partially repay victims, I’d find it much more credible that they weren’t involved in some way.

Maybe we’ll never know; if they could positively vindicate the sons then I hope they do so very publicly; my skepticism is shared by many, and it would be a shame if it was unwarranted.

People on a few web sites are saying Bernie’s son might have been suicided by the Russians. Picower may have been the first. He was found at the bottom of his pool last October.

Hopefully Sonja Kohn in Europe is on the “dead pool” list.

YEs, he probably saw a way to cleanse himself, and emotionally/legally ‘set himself right’ by making the decision to turn his father in once his father confessed/
But don’t think that as the “head of trading” he didn’t know early on what exactly was going on with this Ponzi scheme. His father may have masterminded it, but he willingly played along. For anyone to imply or come away with the impression that he was an ‘innocent victim’, on a level with Madoff’s hundreds of marks, who saw their life savings disappear, is naive.

Here’s a comment by Glasgow Gary on ZeroHedge that sums up my conclusions regarding this “suicide”.

“It must be a coincidence that the Trustee just announced a broad range of targets as liable for complicity in the scheme. This is intriguing because in addition to personal culpability, the young Madoff may also have had information that implicated/was useful to the Trustee. It looks like this story is far from over.”

Bottom line: Other elites are about about to be implicated in this ponzi scheme and that required young Madoff’s silence.
