Nearly one in three people with Somali ancestry in the United States live in Minnesota, although some activists claim there are more. The 1 in 3 estimate comes from new survey data released today by the U.S. Census Bureau. The bureau's American Community Survey says there are about 25,000 people with Somali ancestry in Minnesota and about 85,700 in the United States. The other states with large Somali populations are Ohio, Washington and California, but their communities are much smaller than Minnesota's.

Hard to imagine with the stark climate differences... especially this time of year.
“Nearly 1 in 3 US Somalis live in Minnesota”
Yes, I know, I’ve seen them.
I wasn’t born here by my choice.
The only thing I can figure is the plentiful free cheeze.
They should commit an act of “jihad” on Al Franken.
I wonder how many of these “Americans” before emigrating here, picked and tore at the bodies of American Soldiers in Mogadishu....The Skinnies.....
They are a cancer that can destroy countries.
I always wondered how they ended up in Minnesota.
Minneapolis is to Somalis what Detroit is to Iranians.
You have mail....
There are just as many in San Diego. Many of them were settled here by Catholic charities. What do California and Minnesota have in common? It’s the welfare not the weather.
Me too, because isn’t that where the huge military like Nazi Skinhead groups are? Opposites attract?
There were a whole bunch in place where I ran a customer service center.
Their “sponsors” invited all of the business owners to come to a meeting to talki about getting them jobs. We were told they did not have a good sense of time, because time was not as adhered to in their country. We were told they did not take to well to having women direct them, so we should be sensitive to that. We were told that their culture did not deal well with direct confrontation or discussion well, so we needed to deal with that.
We ran a customer service center, mostly women employees—all women supervisors and we dealt directly with service issues—or direct customer contact. Our service center measured the interactions and time on the floor to the second—which allowed us to staff correctly.
Combine all of the above, plus the fact that you could not understand them and they would have been perfect for the company. Not.
And the sponsors wondered what they needed to do in order for me to hire them (we had dozens of openings). I suggested that they learn to speak english, buy a wrist watch and learn how to use it, and get over their mommy issues.
Needless to say, i was not called back for more “information sessions.”
To add “diversity” to homogenous Minnesota. That’s why.
Seriously, can someone explain to me how importing these people enrich my life and that of my children? There’s no benefit to me. I haven’t noticed that I’m watching my spending better or I’m eating less junk food. 2010 America = world’s Wal-Mart/Refugee Center.
Plus the population density of Somalia is way less than Minnesota. It is even less than Oregon. Visas should be limited to people who are useful to America’s interests. Period.

IIRC, a post on FR a few months ago reported that our President Hussein
issued an executive order to let something like 83,000 Muslims into
the what used to be the USA on a compassionate basis.
This country has lost it’s freakin’ mind.
Here’s a wiki page on Lewiston, Maine (lots of Somalis there)with a snippet of why they went to Maine.
“”In 1999, at the urging of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), the United States government began preparations to resettle an estimated 12,000 refugees from the Bantu minority ethnic group in Somalia to select cities throughout the United States. Most of the early arrivals in the United States settled in Clarkston, Georgia, a city adjacent to Atlanta. However, they were mostly assigned to low rent, poverty-stricken inner city areas, so many began to look to resettle elsewhere in the US.
Word soon spread that the town of Lewiston, Maine had a low crime rate, good schools and cheap housing. Somalis subsequently began a secondary migration from other states to the former mill town, and after 2005, many Bantus followed suit.””
Wow! 25,000 in an entire state!
There are street corners in L.A. with that many illegal aliens.
