Charles Krauthammer Tells Bill O’Reilly Sarah Palin Must Expand Policy Knowledge
Mediaite ^ | 12/14/10 | Glen Davis

Bill O’Reilly recently talked with frequent Fox News guest Charles Krauthammer to handicap potential GOP candidates’ chances in the 2012 presidential election. Krauthammer called Mitt Romney the front-runner” and said Mike Huckabee has established himself as a “major player”…but his most dissected comments will probably be his remarks on one Sarah Palin.

Krauthammer compared Palin’s problem to Hillary Clinton’s in the late 1990s – strong support from her core base, virulent opposition from most others. O’Reilly asked if the level of opposition to Palin is the media’s fault, and while Krauthammer said they’ve “contributed enormously” and that “the animus to her is unprecedented,” he also allowed that “she is not practiced in policy” and that the infamous Katie Couric interview was “not a ‘gotcha’ interview.” According to Krauthammer, Palin’s growth in mastering policy issues will shape her fate:

“I think if you want to expand your base, you have to get into policy even though it sounds dull.”

Well, she’s sure no John Bolton when it comes to foreign policy that’s for sure.

Nobody is.

But which candidate is most likely to pick Bolton to head the NSA or to be Secretary of State?

Obviously, you have not read her two books, nor any of her dozens of published articles.

“I think if you want to expand your base, you have to get into policy even though it sounds dull.”

When Krauthammer says policy, he means to get with the program. The elites' "policy" is second verse, same as the first. That's old thinking. We're not going to Washington, DC to sing in their chorus. Sarah Palin brings a new beat to the dance. She is just fine on policy. Her record proves it. Those who can't dance to the new beat can just sit down and shut the hell up! ;-)

Were she to take Krauthammer’s suggestions as constructive criticism and follow his advice, it can do her no harm.

I think the Christian way to help an ally is to provide constructive criticisms directly to the recipient rather than to publish it in the media.

But, Chuck is not Sarah's ally.

Dr K can be all right, I hope you understand he's not as conservative as many around here think. He comes from a liberal background, thinks quite highly of himself, and is more truly defined as a moderate.

He also likes Mitt.

Nuff said.

I strongly suspect that if K had to choose between Palin and Obie, he'd take Obie.

...If she decides to run, she will need to convince those who aren't paying attention of her abilities to govern and form policy. That's what campaigns are for. If she runs and explains herself well, she will very likely win.

Your comment makes a lot of sense. I don't think you will last here very long.

:-) Have a good evening!

I wish he'd do some psychiatric research into why folks like he and Karl Rove dumped all over Christine O'Donnell on the night of her primary victory.

Is stupid now defined as displaying reality?

Can you guarantee independents in Ohio, Florida, Virginia, et al will flock to Palin?

We are on the road to financial ruin. The bond vigilantes are warming up, there is way too much chatter a/b decoupling oil from the $, & our reserve currency status can no longer be taken for granted. The “R” candidate in ‘12 must have the fiscal vocabulary & acumen to expose Barry as a rank amateur hack. Like it or not, Sarah will not be able to “You betcha” her way to 1600 Penn. Ave.

You have not apparently been here long. Otherwise, you would know that LakeShark is an unapologetic supporter of Governor Palin and expects her to run for POTUS.

But your posting history up to this point just proves my point for me.

This country is not going for an inexperienced choice whose strength is a good speech and whooping up a crowd. Not again

And they would not be with Sarah, who had more executive experience than Obama, Biden and John McCain put together, in the last election.

As far as doing serious grown up work, what the heck does that mean? She's run a business, put herself through college, been a small town mayor, and the Governor of a huge state. She knows how to shoot, fish, gut, clean a rifle, ride an ATV, have five kids, and stay married for almost 25 years.

So what serious grown up work are you talking about?

By the way, welcome to Free Republic, newb.
