Scientists: It's not too late yet for polar bears

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Two groups of scientists are suggesting a sliver of hope for the future of polar bears in a warming world.

A study published online Wednesday rejects the often used concept of a "tipping point," or point of no return, when it comes to sea ice and the big bear that has become the symbol of climate change woes. The study optimistically suggests that if the world dramatically changed its steadily increasing emissions of greenhouse gases, a total loss of critical summer sea ice for the bears could be averted.

Another research group projects that even if global warming doesn't slow—a more likely near-future scenario—a thin, icy refuge for the bears would still remain between Greenland and Canada.

The idiots are doubling-down.

Must be a Lefty genetic trait to double-down when you've suffered a humiliating shellacking.

A sliver of hope for Polar Bears?

That’s like saying there’s a sliver of hope for bacteria, or cockroaches. Polar bears are doing fine.

Polar bears are one of nature’s most adaptable creatures.

Their numbers have steadily increased over the years since the sixties.

The polar bear population is not decreasing.

Enviro nuts will use any pretext regardless of its outrageousness or falsity or complete lack of scientific proof to advance their misguided idealistic binge cause.

Good news for Polar bears, the freezing cold in the rest of the world will kill off humans thus reducing the carbon footprint and causing the ice to reform. They’re saved!

Or just airlift them to the UK.

Poor big ole man-eating bears. Maybe we could feed em some climate scientists if they're hungry....

I live in the UK.

I think a few Polar bears - perhaps a thousand or so - would have a salutary effect, especially if you released them near the CRU.

I think we can solve this problem without endangering the planet. Simply build electric generating windmills all across Alaska and Canada. Then use the electricity to run refrigerators without any doors. The resultant cold air from the refrigerators would stop the melting of the ice. Simple solution.

Since it is so freaking cold here in the Ohio Valley, I have started a polar bear relocation charity. To donate, go to www.savemyfurryass.org. We will be relocating polar bears from the warm, sunny Arctic to the cold, frozen Ohio Valley. As an added bonus, this relocation program will also solve our deer overpopulation problem. Since the deer have never seen polar bears, they should be easy prey. The polar bears can feast on all the deer they want, as well as the homeless suffering from six years of Democrat controlled Congress. If food starts to run short, I plan on putting up traps for more food. At the local Walmart will be large boxes with signs that read: Enter if you voted for Obama, free prize inside!

Well, if the ice melts then the bears will just move south and start eating Canucks. Who would think they would go extinct? As long as there is something to eat (preferably registered DemocRATS) the Polar Bear will survive.

A polar bear is seen at a zoo. Climate change is pushing Arctic mammals to mate with cousin species, in a trend that could be pushing the polar bear and other iconic animals towards extinction, biologists said on Wednesday. (AFP/File/Jean-Christophe Verhaegen)
