St. Peter Santa gets the heave-ho-ho-ho

This Santa slid down no chimney, but he feels he and the kids got the shaft nonetheless. Dennis Jackson said it was over-reaching cultural sensitivity that led to being told his annual Santa appearances must cease at St. Peter Head Start classes for young children. Jackson said he was told "it was against some people's wishes" for him to make the half-hour appearances for two classes catering to about three dozen children. He said St. Peter Head Start personnel gave him no reason for the action. He's made Santa appearances there the past four years to dispense candy bought at his own expense. "It kind of burnt me up," he said, speculating that program officials turned him away in deference to requests from immigrant families that don't celebrate Christmas. Chris Marben, who coordinates regional Head Start programs through Mankato-based Minnesota Valley Action Council, said as much. "We have Somali families in the program," she said. "We're respecting the wishes of families in the program."

“We have Somali families in the program,”

There’s your problem right there.

How long before naming towns after saints becomes unlawful? St. Louis will be renamed after some labor or marxist hero.

I wonder why it is the Hmong can assimulate, but Somali’s cannot.

I never hear the Hmong bitching and moaning about everything in the US.

“St.Peter” (Where this took place) is probably very divisive and hurtful to atheists, too.

So how can they justify calling their place St. Peter?

What a bunch of numbskulls.

Say to the Somalis, “Look, here is what to expect while you are here. If you are offended, hit the road.”

I suppose being liberals they have an altogether different interpretation of "Peter".

When I hear the word Somalis, all I think of is the cover of the Boston Herald with the little bastard standing and smiling on the body of a US ARMY Ranger.

You bet. St. Peter is a great town (my daughter’s dad is from there). Get rid of the REAL problem here, folks.

Unfortunately, they are much too civil for that. For now.

Ah, yes. Been to St. Peter many times. A beautiful little town. I’m very sorry to hear it’s been overrun with Somalis, who have already apparently sucked the life out of Faribault and moved to greener pastures. St. Peter is home to Gustavus Adolphus College.

Isn’t St. Peter where they have a prison for the criminally insane?

They have a psychiatric hospital there, but I am not sure about the “criminally insane” part. It includes an alcohol treatment center, but that’s about all I know.
