DeMint Drops Bid to Delay Action on New START (selling America OUT)
National Journal ^ | December 15, 2010 | By Megan Scully and Rebecca Kaplan

Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., backed off threats today to force a reading of the New START arms-reduction treaty after the White House assailed the delay tactic as a “new low.”

Senate leaders had estimated that a full reading of the accord could take 15 hours, which would have thrown a wrench into ambitious plans to finish work on New START, an omnibus spending bill, and several other pieces of legislation before the Senate adjourns for the year.

I can’t believe that some here would support this guy for President over a very qualified candidate who keeps her word and is out there fighting for the American people every day.

Would that be Sarah or Michelle (at this point either one is fine by me).

Oops, he got bad press...Republicans don’t like bad press...Republican voters don’t like bad press...even Freepers prefer candidates who don’t get bad press, calling it “too much baggage”.

Which is why the ballot box can no longer save us.

Sarah will never cave... she is the real deal... caving is not in her makeup. I do not know how to have anything but disdain for this government. It is the worst government the US has ever had... and that is saying something.

"The only Republican with any testicular fortitude is Sarah Palin." I am a big Palin fan and hope to vote for her as President.

But if she is the Republican nominee, I will have to cast my vote for someone else. I quit voting for Republicans two elections ago. A pox on BOTH the Democrat and Republican parties.

This guy is a real a-hole who lacks the courage of his convictions. How many times is DeMint and our “other” leaders going to threaten to stick up for us before we stop buying their BS.

Wait one minute! Who is the Senator that bucked the establishment and supported all the new conservative Senators. Sen. DeMint is one of the real conservatives we have. Either he has enough votes to shoot this down or something else is going on, but he has stood alone fighting the system for a while.

You might want to get your facts together before demonstrating your ignorance of the matter...

“START Passage Looks Dead for 2010”:

In what looks like a decisive blow, at least eight Republican senators – including some the White House was counting on – will announce this afternoon they cannot vote to ratify President Barack Obama’s New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty with Russia this year.

Sen. Lamar Alexander (R., Tenn.), Sens. Jon Kyl of Arizona, Lamar Alexander of Tennessee, John Thune of South Dakota, Christopher Bond of Missouri, Orrin Hatch of Utah, Saxby Chambliss of Georgia, George LeMieux of Florida and Mark Kirk of Illinois have called a press conference for 2:45 p.m. today to announce their opposition to ratification of the treaty during the lame-duck session.

Sens. Alexander and Kirk had given favorable signals about the treaty, and White House officials considered Sen. LeMieux a likely vote. Treaties need 67 senators for ratification...

DeMint has consistently been one of the top three or four most conservative Senators, and none of the FReepers on this thread know all the facts involved, yet they are blasting DeMint as though he were an enemy of the Republic.

Did any of them bother calling his office for an explanation before condemning him? Or is it hanging first, trial later?

Sarah needs to go on Fox and address her feeling about DeMint and all the other losers that are caving in to the dems on these lameduck bills. Better yet, I would love to see her crash the congress floors and step up to the podium during their sessions and give’em hell on national tv. Although, the last statement might be a little hard to do but knowing Sarah, she is probably thinking about it. :-)

I’m EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!

Why is this voted lame duck congress trying to go against the will of the people? This without a doubt will endanger every citizen in this country. This is a modern day Neville Chamberlain deal with Adolf Hitler.

This deal is so dangerous that the enemy can attack us with a nuclear and/or biological weapon and fear of a nuclear retaliation.

No, we’re all fed up with the House DADT vote and kneejerking to make us feel better.

That’s how I feel anyway.

There, I said it.

Man, you guys fold like cheap suits. Have a little faith. Sen. DeMint has always been a solid conservative and he has been a big supporter of new conservatives getting elected. He has taken on incumbent rino's in the primaries. This treaty hasn't been passed yet, maybe he stopped the reading because he's got the votes to stop it.

How would you know that she'd never cave? Jim DeMint was considered the rock-ribbed conservative in the senate (I still think he is), now Freepers think he's selling them out. I'm sorry but too many are doing to Palin what was done to Obama - projecting their idea of perfection on him/her.

Republicant’s.

No longer will I try to work within the GOP party. My last hope is resting on the tea party candidates. If they cave, all is lost, I’ll hunker down for the fight. My last line of defense is the new guys. After that, it’s all men for himself.
We’ve tried all legal avenues, if that doesn’t work, plan b.
