After making attacks on what she memorably labeled “the lamestream media” one of her signature issues, Sarah Palin has begun to experiment with a new strategy toward the press – engaging it.

The former Alaska governor has started cautiously cooperating with some of the same media outlets she and her supporters have accused of unfair and inaccurate coverage they feel has caricatured her as a flaky lightweight – a narrative her team seems determined to rewrite as Palin openly weighs a bid for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.

“This is just about getting the press to characterize the governor accurately,” said Tim Crawford, a top Palin aide. “And, if that can be accomplished through Gov. Palin and some of the people around her talking to the press, we’ll try that.”

What rock does this writer live under to think that the label “lamestream media” was first used by Sarah Palin? She most certainly used and applied the label but I don’t believe it originated with Palin. If some FReeper can show me otherwise, I’ll have learned something new today.

Everyone now knows about Rove and TeamRomney vs the GOP in 2010.
In 2008, the McCain/Palin ticket was up ++4 to 10 pts. in some polls, days prior to the election.

attack Gov. Palin to throw Election2008 to the DNC.

Like it or not....the MSM still wields enormous power. For all of the name calling, disparagement, and vituperation sent their way by the good folks here on FR...the MSM remains a potent, influential power.

Ms. Palin's handlers are correct in the cautious, well considered approach to certain selected MSM to "mend some bridges" that may have suffered from some attacks back in the day.
