SACRAMENTO, Calif. California regulators on Thursday approved the first system in the nation to give polluting companies such as utilities and refineries financial incentives to emit fewer greenhouse gases.
The Air Resources Board voted 9-1 to pass the key piece of California's 2006 climate law called AB32 with the hope that other states will follow the lead of the world's eighth largest economy. State officials also are discussing plans to link the new system with similar ones under way or being planned in Canada, Europe and Asia.
California is launching into a "historic adventure," said Mary Nichols, chairwoman of the state's air quality board.
"We're inventing this," she said. "There is still going to be quite a bit of action needed before it becomes operational."
California is trying to "fill the vacuum created by the failure of Congress to pass any kind of climate or energy legislation for many years now," said Nichols.

If you want instruction on how to fail as a government, just look to California. California is dead, and the Greenies are nailing down the coffin lid.

Any state(s) that blows this bs off and encourages industry to come will be the one I’d bank on. Unfortunately it’s not going to be mine (Washington).

Most of the rest of the country WILL NOT follow California- off the side of a cliff. California already has 12.5% unemployment and with the full implementation of AB32 it will go MUCH higher. Californians had the opportunity to stop AB32 with Prop 23 but they were too stupid to pass it. So now unemployment will go higher and the average idiot will wonder what happened.
The problem in California is Californians. Too stupid for self government.

As California takes those tentative first steps into becoming what it was always meant to be ~ a catch and release fisherman's paradise.
I can see the little sailboats and dories now as they push off from the quaint spalled concrete piers strategically located up and down the once teeming shores.
Off in the distance you can just make out the abandoned Encina power plant tower near the ruins of the abandoned Marie Calendar pie shop.
They say that further up the way Canadian wolves have come all the way down and are making a home underneath the old floor slab at Angelos.

Watching the left going merrily about their delusional way is like going down to the park and listening to the “park people” talk to the trees.

Businesses all over the world are fighting to open up shop in California. NOT!
There was a post yesterday about why people are leaving CA. The comments on the original article were almost 100% from people who have left over the past 20 years and never looked back. And are much happier in their new homes and states.
My wife and I are counting the days til we can get out of CA. Now we’ll have to pay lots more for our already-overpriced energy, fight for far fewer available jobs, AND pay higher taxes for a new battalion of regulators to be hired in Sacramento.
The state is on the verge of financial armageddon and probably going into federal receivership. Yet the nincompoops in Sacto still foist this crap on us.
I wonder how far the various states and nation have to fall before we hit rock bottom.

The eighth largest economy in the world is fiscally and morally bankrupt, but too stupid to realize it.
They’ve set an excellent example for other states to follow.
Run away from California.

"We will leave the moment we are able....to damn near anywhere but Kaleephornya....." Be careful if you're thinking of running here to Colorado. We apparently decided on November 2 to ignore what was happening in the rest of the country and follow California over the cliff. We're in better shape than California at the moment, but many of the same pathologies are alive and well here.
On the other hand, we do have Michelle Malkin now so that's a major plus.

There is far more real, hard scientific evidence that increased atmospheric CO2 concentrations are stimulating crop growth enough to offset the decline in crop growth caused by the current Global COOLING. This high level of CO2 may be preventing world wide famine caused by the recent global cooling

I really feel sorry for you people in “The Peoples Republic of California” your so called public servants are about as stupid as they come! Can any of these people walk and do anything at the same time?
Really what is a “Greenhouse Gas”? What is the reason for that term? Could it have something to do with plant life and all vegetation using carbon dioxide to produce “OXEGEN” where does plant life thrive, in a greenhouse! That little but important gas needed to sustain the life of your public servants, this will eventually be used against us here in Wyoming as with everything else that comes out of your state.

40 years ago as a Boy Scout I got to camp and hike in the Sierras, in the Redwoods, in the Pinnacles, Yosemite, etc.
Back on the coast we road dirt bikes to our heart’s delight.
I thought California was the coolest place on the planet.
So did a lot of other weirdos. The present condition is the fruit of unmitigated hipness.
