Royal snub for the Obamas: No wedding invite from Prince William and Kate Middleton
LA Times ^ | December 17, 2010 | Andrew Malcolm

Oh, the humiliation. Once not so long ago one of the world's top celebrities in his own right, Barack Obama and his wife Michelle did not make the cut for invitations to the royal wedding in London next spring.

On April 29 in Westminster Abbey with all the grace and pageantry sure to capture international imaginations, commoner Kate Middleton will marry Prince William, son of Princess Diana. And don't forget the horsedrawn carriage perhaps.

But the current residents of the White House will not be there, according to the Daily Mail.

It preempts the president’s attempt to snub them.

This is payback for Barry returning Churchill’s bust to the UK. Good for the British.

So why should England invite the Classless Couple to a classy event?

Obama has treated our ally dismally. I don’t think he cares about their favor even now, but I do think he and his wife will bristle at the snickering the world will do over this.

I’ve no interest in the wedding but have to congratulate them. Obaa will find it difficult to trump this snub.

Thank you Prince William for saving the taxpayers of the colonies untold millions of dollars. If obumbo and moochelle were invited we would have seen another rip off of the commoners in America.

They shouldn’t invite that ego-maniac, he would find a way to steal the spotlight.

I’m sure all the SS would make a mess of the day, too.

I guess the Bride-to-Be was worried that Bitchelle would out shine her - I mean being the fashionista that she is....s/

Ha! Wouldn’t it be funny if the Churchill bust was sitting in the pew and at the table at the reception where the 0bama’s would have sat?

Prince Charles His father, with all his flaws is a Bible believing man. Why invite one of the sons of Perdition?

I wouldn’t be surprised if Zero and Moochelle were not invited to the next coronation either whether he is still the president then or not. Returning that bust was an unforgivable faux Pas

“I am sure the Won will send some DVDs and iPod as wedding gifts.”

Actually, this is probably why they didn’t invite him. They didn’t want to be in the embarrassing position of writing a thank-you note profusely praising the president for whatever trashy gift he elected to give him. Nor did they want to be put on the spot by the media about how they truly felt about it. Best to avoid these dilemmas altogether. This is a classic case of an ounce of prevention sparing them many pounds of discomfort.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I spoke of this today with my parents and when Charles and Diana got married back in the 80’s I seem to remember that the President and Mrs. Reagan did attend that wedding.
