Having gone to grad school at a local Catholic college with a large Muslim population, I can tell you this:
1. The Muslim population at MY school was attracted by the school’s devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Hence, these Muslims were overwhelmingly those who saw Christians as “brothers of the Book,” rather than “infidels.”
2. The spiritual effect such students would have had on the school WOULD HAVE been largely positive, as such, had the school leaders (faculty, administration, and student leaders) saw this as means for teaching THEM how to be more like US, rather than how WE must accomodate THEM.
3. Nonetheless, as such a small (one might even say “parochial” if that wouldn’t cause confusion) college, even that was harmless, because it wasn’t the sort of educational experience centered around establishing liberal “rights.” However, at the undergraduate, Jesuit school I attended, I could imagine that could be absolutely insidious... But that school lacked the Marian appellation, and probably only minimally attracts such Muslims.
Sure, happy to. In a nutshell, the Catholic universities in this country essentially declared their independence from the authority of the Church. Up until this time (~1967), the universities were obliged to follow the Church, as they should, having been founded with that in mind. As of the late sixties, when this began, the majority of the Catholic universities in America began to diverge, widely, from Church teachings, moral and otherwise. Not all have followed this path, but many. Thus we have the campus political climates that yield things like the obamanator’s appearance at Notre Dame, or the shenanigans at Washington’s favorite Jesuit university, et al. I’m not an expert, by any means, just a Catholic who mourns these happenings, for himself, fellow Catholics (we are Bible-based, by the way), and other Bible-based Christians, such as yourself. The Land-o-lakes rebellion gave us ostensibly Catholic universities so politically correct and progressive that they repudiate their own founding principles, and welcome this horror. Sorry for running on, but again, it’s a celiac day for me. Suffice it to say that, had the rebellion not been allowed, we wouldn’t have this garbage going on at Catholic campuses at all. Just my humble opinion though. I hope that helps.
...waiting....
...waiting....
...still waiting....
Dean: Muhomed, we've called you in her to say that we've noticed that you're a little slow.
Muhomed: How is that, Mr. Dean, sir?
Dean: Well, were you arare that this is a CATHOLIC University?
Muhomed: Well....
Dean: The word “Saint” in the title didn't give you a clue?
Muhomed: Of course, I knew, infidel! The streets will run red with your own blood. You will surely swim in your own blood along with hundreds of millions of Americans! We will win, this I guarantee.
Anyways, what are you going to do to accommodate me? I demand that my wishes be met quickly or else I will go the TV and expose the fact that you have offended me! A much worse crime to your media and your leaders than a threat of killing a mere few hundred million of you.
As a Catholic I am pretty much just speechless at this point.
There is no allah.
islam is a lie.
Fin.
