Again, most people do not see Catholicism that way.

I don't want to pick a fight with Catholics here ... I did that years ago ... I'm commenting on what is now a reality in America and it BY GOD should never have gotten this way.

“nmh, look up the Land-o-lakes rebellion. These were once (not now), Catholic in much more than name. Not anymore. Otherwise, BHO wouldn’t have been invited to speak, solely based on the abortion/embryonic stemm cell stance/actions.”

What does ANY of this have to do with accommodating ISLAM at a Catholic College?

Okay, I did look it up. As a nonCatholic I am not familiar with the Land of Lakes Rebellion of 1967. Here is what I found on it

http://archives.nd.edu/episodes/visitors/lol/idea.htm

I'm not going to wade through the gobbledygook.

Thank GOD, I'm Bible based. It's so much easier ... . Canyou cut through the chase and tell me what I am supposed to see?

“diversity of worship ... The traditional God, Jesus and Holy Spirit .. but Mary, many saints, holy places and icons as well.

Roman Catholics do not pray to icons,Mary or the Saints.

They ask them to pray for them.”

Catholics DO pray TO MARY and other dead siiners to INTERCEDE for them.

ROMAN CATHOLICS most CERTAINLY DO PRAY TO MARY and other DEAD SINNERS to INTERCEDE for them. They WILL pray to statues and ICONS to accomplish this. Let’s NOT lie about that FACT.

It’s all about the money...tuition from anyone who will pay it.

Astonishingly, Catholic Colleges no longer adhere to Catholic Doctrine.

Someday, not too far in the future, these universities will begin to fall to the muslims, one by one.
When that happens you won’t see the muslims allowing Catholics to pray to Jesus on campus.

Very interesting post and thread. The collectivization of collectives...watch Catholic University morph into a mosque, a barracks, a base camp for Allah’s asymmetric warriors.

from citizen warrior...

19. It provides a huge and inspiring goal. Leaders of countries or companies or religions have all discovered that you can get the most motivation and enthusiasm from your followers if you provide them with an expansive vision. An enormous goal. In the Islamic memeplex, the goal calls for a continuous effort to expand the domain of Islamic law until all the world has submitted to Islam.

Many religions have the goal of converting everyone, but Islam has a method available nobody else has: To expand by seizing and converting governments to Shari’a.

20...

Several memes within Shari’a law extend this effect. Non-Muslims are not allowed to build any new houses of worship. They’re not even allowed to repair already-existing churches or synagogues. This puts the houses of worship of any competing memeplex in a state of permanent decline. Brilliant.

Much more...(here)

We now see what a disaster it has been to allow Christian religious institutions to be hijacked by secular left wing forces. We have thrown away some of the most powerful weapons in the culture war and then we wonder at the results.

Pathetic and disturbing. The left and radical Islam certainly understood how important it is to suborn these institutions.

This is probably caused by many Islamic Studies ‘experts’ come from Catholic Universities, such as Georgetown (John Esposito) and Notre Dame (Gabriel Reynolds). Those schools perhaps start Islamic Studies to prepare missionaries understand Muslims, but later changed into centers for Islamic apologetics.

I'm not Catholic but I DO know what they believe.

Catholics have some common ground with Christianity but also UNCOMMON ground.

An honest Catholic will admit that they DO pray to Mary and other dead sinners they believe are in heaven to intercede for them. I don't know HOW they come to this idea but they have told me, they INFER this as being proper.

As a Christian, I would NEVER do that nor “infer” this since the Bible states otherwise. Christ has given us the Holy Spirit who will intercede on our behalf to Christ and Christ on behalf of God (Trinity). Christ is the mediator for Christians.

“And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant,”
Hebrews 12:24

“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;” 1 Timothy 2:5.

NOT Mary or other dead sinners

He is not only God, but man; not only man, but God: a blessed reconciler of man to God, and of God to man. Galatians 4:4-5.

Who intercedes for us?

Romans 8:26 and 27

[26] Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

[27] And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

I'm not picking a fight with Catholics. It IS what the Bible states and there is no “mystery” on the interpretation of this. Scripture CLARIFIES Scripture. Dead sinners can't hear anyone on earth, however fallen angels would love to have you DISTRACTED from CHRIST and do all possible to PREVENT a personal relationship with Christ. Through praying to dead sinners, this accomplishes that.

I could say more, but I will stop there.

I agree .. I didn't want this thread to get off track into doctrinal differences/discussions/arguments.

I truly believe it IS .. Onward Christian Soldiers, but I'm afraid many patriots are not ready to be warriors.

And I also truly believe it IS a time for war.

They declared it Sept. 11, 2001.

We need to remember that there are “Catholic” universities and then there are Catholic universities.

Fortunately, the Church is beginning to take a deeper look at all of this and I expect that we will see some of these institutions eventually lose their official *Catholic* status.

Ahh, let’s bring back the Knights Templars and I will be a Crusader for Christ. How can this be when a religion allows anopther religion to join them with out converting? What has God brought to his people? First the gays in the priest hood, lack of Nuns and now this? Who ever lets a muslim in a Catholic church with a prayer mat facing mecca, may they be d@mned for all time.

A spiritual war has been going on for some time now ... and the PACE has quickened.

Who would believe that America would exalt PERVERTS, homosexuals and allow them to OPENLY DISPLAY their PERVERSION in our military?

Who would believe that we would ALLOW an evil person like Obama to be elected? He totally MOCKS Christianity?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RWHdQBMgb4

Just look at his ARROGANCE and DEFIANCE!

Nose up in the air - haughty! Try watching Obama's face WITHOUT sound. He can hardly contain his utter disdain of Christians and the Bible. We should also be looking out for Catholics. God loves them too and they have time to reconsider what the TRUTH is. They are so close ... and then deviate.

“We need to remember that there are “Catholic” universities and then there are Catholic universities.”

True, but Catholic University of America in DC that is highlighted in this article is widely considered one of the more stringent Catholic universities. Their president (or did he recently leave?) has taken a lot of flak for trying to keep his Catholic school actually Catholic. We’re not just talking about the Georgetowns and Notre Dames.

Aside from the Catholic schools that turn away federal dollars, and can therefore write their own rules, this will be the trend.

IMHO the admission of so many students from Islamic countries to study at U.S. universities, whether they be Catholic, Private or Public is treasoness and falls at the feet of the U.S. State Department.

They issue the Student Visa's and by issuing these visas so freely, they are setting America up for disasterous consequences.

The U.S. State Dept. acts as if it had nothing to do with issuing visas to the 09-11- hijackers. Their visa give-a-way to Islamic peoples needs to be stopped dead.

Many Catholic colleges are no longer really Catholic. Georgetown ceased any pretensions decades ago. Notre Dame was more hypocritical, but lowered the mask when it celebrated and fawned over the Abortionist in Chief while simultaneously persecuting, hounding, and (still) attempting to imprison the 88 pro-life Catholics that peacefully protested the university's overt rejection of Catholic beliefs and arrogant defiance of the Catholic hiearchy. Notre Dame's president is a priest who has clearly lost the faith. The Board consists largely of business people interested only in money, not at all in the Catholic Faith. Sure Muslims are welcome: in the morally relative world of New Notre Dame, anything goes.

If one reads the article, one will discover a couple of facts:

- There are 91 Muslims enrolled at the Catholic University of America. That's out of 6700 students, both graduate and undergraduate, of whom 88% of undergraduates are Catholic and 61% of graduates are Catholic;

- All undergraduates are required to take religion and philosophy courses, including core courses which will require them to read the Christian Bible as well as to learn basics of Christian faith.

I submit that it is a good thing to permit a small number of Muslims to go to places like the Catholic University of America, as they will be introduced to an environment rich in Catholic faith and will be exposed to authentic Catholic teaching (CUA is, at this time, one of the more orthodox Catholic colleges in the United States. Far from perfect, but even farther from its nadir in the 1970s and 1980s).

It may be few, if any, Muslims that are converted, but at least they will be exposed to something outside of Islam. I have a hard time seeing this as a bad thing.

Interestingly, my own exposure to Islam began at CUA when I was an undergraduate. I took a course that was primarily about Islam and its conflict with Christianity from the time of its inception through the Middle Ages. The course, although respectful of Islam, nonetheless was presented from a thoroughly Catholic perspective.
