Boycott the History Channel's Advertisers
Coach Is Right ^ | 12/20/10 | Bruce Karlson

Recently the History Channel proved that it is as snarky as those of who watch it thought.

To wit: the Georgia Division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV) wanted to run some ads on the History Channel. These ads pointed out the legal basis for secession and, quite accurately, that the North invaded the newly configured Confederacy (Manassas/Bull Run is, after all, in Virginia). Another pointed out that Northern interests essentially ran the Federal government, frequently to the advantage Northern supporters at the expense of the South. The most accurate ad of all simply stated that ANY STATE had the right to remove itself from the Union. It is fair to opine that, if our Founders had put an ominous clause in the Constitution forbidding an exit, our nation would have started out with many fewer states…including Virginia,... … Continue Reading:Boycott the History Channel’s Advertisers!!

Agreed. Once you get past the slavery issue, the South had it right. States ARE more important than the Fedgove. The slavery thing was really bad and it should have been banned at the signing of our constitution in 1789. We need to separate the states rights issue from the slavery issue. Slavery was immoral and a true scar on the American Experiment. But... the slaves are long since freed but the oppression of the Fedgov lives on. We need to hear the South, unfettered by the slavery issue.

Just don’t watch the network. Ratings go down, advertisers don’t advertise. It’s simple.

Same here. I'll check in once in a while to see what's on, but seldom find anything worthwhile. Then again, that's true of most TV these days.

There is very little “history” programming on History Channel. It seems to be taken over by reality shows like Pawn Stars, Pickers, Car shows, Ice Road Truckers, and an endless slew of UFO shows. Some aren’t bad, some are, but none really focus on “history”.

Yep, it used to be fairly good. But now it is about 90% pure crap.

Whatever, I would not want to run that propaganda on my channel either.

Not withstanding, some of the shows that do air on the History Channel can be revisionist.

How about setting some priorities.

Of all the problems facing the country today, is the question of whether or not states have the right to succeed from the Union at the top of the priority list?

Last week the History channel ran a really good 2 part series on the rise and fall of the 3rd reich through German eyes. If it were up to me it would be shown in classrooms across America but it won’t happen because the teacher’s unions wouldn’t want the students putting the pieces together.

The history channel runs a lot of crap but occasionaly stumble across something really good.

” some of the shows that do air on the History Channel can be revisionist. “

They started to lose me when, it seemed, *every* program, regardless of subject matter, had to incorporate a GW sermonette....

I'll consider watching the Hisory Channel again once they remove "Ax Men" and "Pawn Somethingorother". These two are not only bad....they are boring, trite, and stupid to boot!

With over 5,000 years of history, one must wonder what possessed the folks at the History Channel to air these two pieces of ofal??

Do they also not mention the attack on Ft. Sumter?

Slavery was immoral and a true scar on the American Experiment.

The strange part, many of the Northerners fighting in the Civil War owned slaves too. For example, in the years prior to the war, Grant didn't have a problem with slavery and Lee was growing to oppose it.
