Bowl preparations hearten Irish coach (ND player passports pulled)
The Journal Gazette (Indiana) ^ | December 22, 2010 | Tony Krausz

Posted on 12/22/2010 5:54:04 PM PST by CedarDave

Notre Dame’s practice Tuesday gave coach Brian Kelly a good indication that the Irish (7-5) are ready to play Miami (7-5) in the Sun Bowl on Dec. 31 in El Paso, Texas.

Notre Dame completes practices in South Bend today before the team disperses for Christmas, and the coaches and players will reconvene in El Paso on Sunday.

The Irish will head to Texas with no major injury issues.

Kelly is also making sure there is no chance his players will wander into Juarez, Mexico, which is plagued by drug-related murders, by taking their passports.

“That’s serious. Don’t go over the border, or you may not come back, simply,” Kelly said. “Now I know El Paso is the safest city in the country, but it’s serious. This isn’t, ‘Hey, let’s give it a shot, guys, and jump in the car and see what it’s like.’ You can’t go there, or nobody is going to be able to help you. There’s just been too much turmoil. … You take the passports, they can’t get back. These guys are smart enough to know that.”

The Sun Bowl stadium is so close to the border that in the past shots fired in an August gunfight south of the Rio Grande have actually hit the school.

You don’t need one to go there. You need one to GET BACK!

Since last year you need a passport to return from either Mexico or Canada.

You don't. But you'll need it to get back.

June, 2009. A passport card or an "enhanced drivers license" (as issued by a few states and indicating citizenship) will also do. These aren't necessary to enter Mexico, as far as I know, but they are necessary to get back into the US.

Do I need a passport to travel to Mexico?

As of June 2009, US citizens entering the United States by land or sea must present a passport or other WHTI compliant travel document such as a passport card. The passport requirement is waived in some cases for minors. Read about travel documents for kids.

Check the link for details. NM driver's licenses don't count as a passport card, BTW as they are available to illegal aliens upon presentation of a utility bill or rent receipt!

Maybe one of the players can take one of those bullets for the liberal bishops who support open-borders and liberal ND which supports partial birth abortion.

So it’s not enough that the Notre Dame coach can tell the players not to go there?

Oh, I forgot, it’s a team filled with thugs and rapists. A team from a school that gives an honorary degree to Obama.

Kelly is a big time Massachusetts liberal who assuredly is in favor of open borders and amnesty. Keep his players home and bring Juarez to El Paso.

thugs and rapists?

Care to elaborate? (This is a test to see if you’ve truly studied.)

You only need a passport to get back if you choose to go through the border checkpoints. We have many millions of undocumented visitors.

A few years ago four players were arrested. Three of them were charged with rape. The other apparently didn’t rape the girl but just held her down. Just recently another football player was accused of rape. Some say Notre Dame has not done much to screen their recruits and ensure that they behave well.
