Posted on 12/27/2010 6:12:57 PM PST by Ron C.
Barrack Obama came to office with an agenda to fundamentally change America. An element of his agenda is a plan, known as catch shares, to restructure the nation's fishing industry. The author of his plan is Dr. Jane Lubchenco, the environmentalist rock star and former vice chairperson of the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF). When it comes to the oceans, the protection of fish, and the punishment of the evil fishermen, Dr. Lubchenco is as extreme as Obama's former green jobs czar, Van Jones.

Now government is obviously doing its best to kill the fishing industry.
Of course, you'll hear little about this from the major-media-socialist-cheering-squads.
Sir you are on target. The American people have no idea what is happening with their marine resources. Obama’s Oceans Policy is just the framework.
Folks have no idea that we are heading straight into food-shortages - and low-cost fish is a BIG part of our diet, and that diet just may not be economically possible if this crap isn't reigned in by massive outcry from the public at large.
Folks... don’t stop reading about this until you’ve clicked on the (underlined in red) last three words in the excerpt above (the national fisheries) which takes you to an article in the Washington Examiner, by Ron Arnold.
Well...that will most likely kill off the rest of South Louisiana, at least the part that wasn’t killed off already after Katrina and the BP oil fiaso. If they can only create a State full of people demanding that the Federal Govt take care of them...... wow...the possibilities! Of course, that would never happen in Louisiana. </sarch>
The US should be filled with wildlife, not Americans.
At some point, they will stop hiding their true agenda.
Lubchenco first came to Washington in 1997 as a board member of the Environmental Defense Fund (2008 income: $112 million), which has been the vanguard for a radical restructuring of the fishing industry, converting the ocean commons into commodities that EDF named catch shares. (emphasis not in original)
Thats not shares as in splitting up the catch equitably, its shares as in paper permits for a preset catch, doled out to fishermen by the government in dribbles designed, according to Lubchenco, to remove a significant fraction of the industrys operators. (emphasis not in original)
Lubchenco - a communist name for a broad that obviously intends communist policies to rule the private fishing industry.
Sadly, this will kill a huge number of jobs in New England, the southern states, California, and likely the hardest hit - Alaska.
Their agenda is out there for all to see - but people do nothing. Of course - few really learn about it, unless they come here, or read the news on the internet. The corrupt Nazi-MSM won't tell you the truth about any of this!
I believe there is a fisheries sub-committee in the House. I wonder who will be in charge?
You’re right on that, the MSM won’t give a hoot about this story. They’ll blame raising food prices on capitalists or something. Without a crisis, how can TSA type goons take over?
I published a book about this over nine years ago. Do you think FReepers paid attention? Not really. They went back to sleep as soon as George W. Bush came in on his white horse to take care of them. Back then, Ron Arnold was still calling people concerned about the UN at Henry Lamb's second Freedom21 conference (at which I was a speaker), "conspiracy freaks."
Not any more!
Yup - I don't doubt that one tiny bit... shortly after Obama declares Martial Law - and the FEMA pukes finally get to do what they've been trained to do.
Thanks Ron C.
Rising food prices will only be part of it... I'm betting that gasoline/diesel fuel prices will double in the not distant future - coupled with a devaluation of the dollar we face a pretty bleak near-immediate future.
Soilent green is us!
Sad to say - we've been watching this head toward major trouble for over two years now - and this coming year we're going to see things really start to fall apart.
I'm just wondering to what extent people are willing to go to break the back of the socialist onslaught we've been suffering since the advent of the Big O. I fear the American people won't have what it will take.
Haaaarrr - unless we raise a lot more hell than we have so far to date. We need to slap our Congress-critters so hard their ears ring for a month - hang them in effigy - burn dummies of them at the stake coast to coast - and TELL THEM, we will stop JUST doing it to effigies if they don't act to reign in this out-of-control fed-gov.
Well, damnit... WE are supposed to be in charge. Not 'them.' I think we need to underline that rather harshly somehow. Would 3 million standing outside their doors in DC with pitchforks do it? Somehow I think even that might not elicit the needed attention.
THAT WILL get attention... but, most likely not the kind we want.
Gasoline prices are now close to triple that of January 2009
“Under my plan electric rates will skyrocket!”
- B. Hussein Oponzi Junior
And Cattlemen in Texas are going bankrupt because they aren’t getting the appropriations they used to get. Everything’s going downhill.
Something like that... burn ten per day until all have been properly notified of our displeasure!
Wouldn't addition of a few media-moguls to the mix help as well?
DO THAT and get the video's posted on the net... and I'll bet that tightens ALL sphincter muscles in Congress.
Yes - all too true!
Wouldn't it really get attention if about 10 or more happened on a single day... a dozen a week, 50 a month?
Well - maybe it's just a nice 'pipe dream' - but, hopefully enough people will soon get mad enough to 'make it happen.'
And YES! Not anymore!
We have an obvious all-out attempt by our government to destroy what is left of this nation - economically.
I've got to get out of here - I'm going to go see how hard it is to make a recognizable Congressional-Dummy to burn in effigy. First, must buy a cheap but good digital video camera.
Red Snapper in this area are at historical abundance yet NOAA comes out with a report that says they are “at near extinction”.
Congress needs to exercise its Oversite and investigate why NOAA is producing fishery stock assessments that have ZERO credibility.
Lubchenco also was with the PEW Org. and Environmental Defense Fund before Soetoro appointed her to NOAA.
There also is the case of NOAA’s top law enforcement officer who was found to have shredded over 140 case files in his office. This was related to a slush fund thay had from fining fishermen exorbitant amounts for minor violations.
Lubchenco punished him by reducing his salary from $158,000 to $154,000 a year and transferring him to another position.
You can bet your bottom doughnut that industrial aquaculture is behind this little scam.
I was talking to the meter reader and he said rates are going to double in 2011.
“Catch shares are transferable or tradable. The fear amongst fishermen is that the transferable catch shares can be sold to anybody, including big corporations or other governments”
that’s exactly what it is meant to do. It is a monetization scam, like carbon credits, hiding under environmentalist clothing. EDF is Wall Street Banks. One in the same.
I would value the author’s attempts, but he is barely above a business cultist who cannot imagine businesses working against other people’s interests. He knows what it is all about a little, but focuses on insincere hippies or other bogeymen. It’s about the money, the hippies are the “front.”
Girl, you, as a sportswriter, need to see this.
But a journalist in DC that has a sheep ranch out west receives huge federal funds every year - all from your hard-earned tax dollars
EDF gets “a piece of the action” for fish that they certify as OK to buy
It is “pay-to-play” with heavy-duty extortion and blackmail
Force restaurants and shops to charge top dollar for the EDF-approved logo
No problemo for the wealthy elites
It is like the “content” McDonald’s must post
Yet at the Chi-Chi gourmet restaurants the chubbies can order and have all the fatty foods, drinks, desserts they wish to order
No nutritional disclosures on the menus at those places
Say - where NYC Mayor Bloomie eats -
We on the West Coast have been dealing with this for years. The waters off the the Central Coast are part of the Monterey Bay Marine Sanctuary (which goes for miles above and below the actual Monterey Bay) and are overseen by NOAA. If you wish to try and to interpret the many regulations created by NOAA for the sanctuary have at it
Here’s one telling section
The NMSA authorizes NOAA and the program to assess civil penalties (up to $130,000 per day per violation) for violations of the NMSA or its implementing regulations and damages against people that injure sanctuary resources. [See sections 306, 307, and 312 of the NMSA
If your boat sinks in the sanctuary you have 24 hours to get it up off the bottom and out of sanctuary waters or the meter starts running. And yes you could be charged up to $130,000 per day for a commercial salvage company to come and fetch you sunken boat.
The above once happened in my house, but no more. My liberal leaning wife REFUSES to believe it. I am of the opinion that she is part of a large majority in this country.
I sometimes am!
I assume your referring to The Wildlands Project goal of 50% of the land off limits to human use.
What else is new?
There are those who get themselves appointed as fishery "business" side representatives, who then, while being pressured with various fishery effort reduction schemes (usually including some mention or threat of total prohibition as to areas, or gear type) will be slowly arm-twisted into "agreeing" with either partial closures, as occurred in regards to bottom trawling on portions of the Santa Lucia Bank (and some other adjacent areas).
They are often allowed to gain for themselves, by way of attached stipulations to the 'deal', rules favorable to themselves, yet at the expense of other fisherman, in the exchange.
In actuality, what was "given up" on the Southern portion of the Santa Lucia wasn't trawled much anyway, save at the edges of that zone. Much of it was guaranteed net-shredding, if not complete and total, kiss-your $20,000 rig of bottom net and trawl doors GOODBYE, because you might just leave it there permanently. But don't worry folks, lost trawl nets don't continue to fish, or "ghostfish" as it is called.
Monofilament gillnets can "ghost fish" if lost. Twisted filament nylon gillnets, can ghost, but usually will collapse, and just lay on the bottom. I know this, because I have caught or snagged "lost" fishing gear.
Getting back to the push for IFQ's;
One of the things you won't see in the news is how they pit fisherman against fisherman, even on smaller scale, State fisheries management levels.
That exact type of arm twisting is occurring now (or is it already a done deal?) in regards to proposed "allocation" for Dungness crab in California, with a few fishermen doing a bit or self-centered arm twisting, themselves. I could name names, but I won't.
To heck with it. I will name names. Vince Doyle, F/V Verna Jean. Total $#@!&%@# (string of expletives not mentionable in polite company or on FR) Presently homeported in Ft. Bragg, I think.
If you see him, be sure to tell him he has many adoring fans!
Huh? Buddy, it is the Central-East portion of this nation that has ALWAYS been called, the “nation's breadbasket”.
How many loaves of bread do you get from an orange grove?
FUBO and the Goat you humped in on. I’ll fish when I want, and deal with it if caught. The Coast Guard, Marine Patrol and LEO here all hate the goat humper. I doubt they will enforce it.
Ummm, that would be Sherry Lewis and Lamb Chop.
Too mucho Sherry
