Decades on, EPA on verge of curbing use of rat poisons

The Brand names include Havoc, Talon, Contrac, Maki, Ratimus and d-CON Mouse Pruf II.

The EPA now is moving to curb widespread use of these rodenticides, starting next June. That move, however, could be short-circuited by a lawsuit filed by the multinational corporation the sells d-CON products.

Pesticide manufacturers, applicators and health officials say controlling rats is an important public health goal because they can spread a number of diseases, including hemorrhagic fever, leptospirosis, salmonellosis and rat bite fever.

Two words here: Environmental Justice. The story is that unsupervised little tykes living in the projects are getting sickened at best and die at worst from ingesting these poisons which were put out by unthinking parents to combat rats and mice which are endemic to those locations.

As the article says, Black and Hispanic children living below the poverty line are disproportionately affected with 83% of children admitted for poisoning in NY from 1990 to 1997 being African-American or Latino. However, with out the use of these effective poisons the rat population will rapidly increase leading to even more hospitalizations from disease.

Of course, the rest of us who have an occasional rodent problem and use discretion with pesticides will pay the price and suffer property losses without effective solutions. As far as I know, cheese and peanut butter in mousetraps is still allowed until some environutter finds a species of mouse that is "endangered."

Anything that curbs human population is good.

The more non-minority peasants who die, the better.

I bet with enough money I could find that there are Black and Hispanic kids allergic to peanut butter and cheese...

EPA, as an institution, frequently operates as if it's socio-pathic. In reality they have too many sociopaths and folks with borderline personality disorder in management and on the staff.

I've advocated using the House' power of impeachment to FORCE these pukes to come before Congress and let us know what motivates them. I think it would scare the heck out of everybody.

BTW, Executive Privilege doesn't protect anyone from IMPEACHMENT. These wouldn't be ordinary hearings ~ they'd make the McCarthy hearings look like a little girl's tea party.

Need to kill rats in a more ‘humane’ way.

“...animals should be permitted to bring suit, with human beings as their representatives, to prevent violations of current law … Any animals that are entitled to bring suit would be represented by (human) counsel, who would owe guardian like obligations and make decisions, subject to those obligations, on their clients’ behalf.” - Cass Sunstein; Obama’s Regulatory Czar

Then we will be seeing an increase of RATS which carry diseases and bite. Filth invites them. I know we pay a small tax monthly for rodent control, which is NOT effective at all here in Memphis.

It’s the government way Dave. Somebody craps their pants in Mongolia, and we all have to wear diapers.

If MO stops the sale of cheese and peanut butter because it is fattening remember that rats like bacon too.

In some quarters, rats are welcome guests. Witness here a late-arriving democrat scurrying to his seat.

RATS protecting rats

and RATS killing humans.

How many of these "saved children" will end up killed by disease or starvation due to increased rat populations? I say many, many more. But the blame will never be placed properly.

It will happen. Given the rat breeding trajectory, I'd say we have major problems that the MSM will not be able to ignore within 2 years.

‘Rat and government have become synonymous. By EPA regulation of ‘Rat poison, what’s the next step? EPA could then justify regulating Tea Party, Conservatism and Federalism.

I use d-Con to help control the deer mice wintering in my garage since I am away so much. In the spring I have to literally dress like a haz-mat responder to clean out their pee and feces as exposure could trigger hanta-virus which is almost always 100% fatal.

I don’t use poisons around here because of my dogs but those poisons are essential elsewhere.
