Tea Party Group Reveals Republican Targets For 2012 (RINOs Lugar, Corker, Hatch, Snowe, Brown)

(RTTNews) - A prominent Tea Party group sent a message to members on Monday identifying five current Republican Senators that they intend to target in 2012.

Tea Party Nation named Sens. Dick Lugar, R-Ind., Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, Scott Brown, R-Mass., and Bob Corker, R-Tenn., as Republicans that need to be sent into retirement, accusing them of being Republicans In Name Only, or RINOs.

The message cited Lugar's vote against a ban on earmarks as well as a his votes in favor of the DREAM Act and the START Treaty. Hatch was also criticized for being a "pork king" and a co-sponsor of the DREAM Act, which would have provided a path to citizenship for certain young illegal immigrants.

Tea Party Nation blasted Snowe for her votes in favor of the health care reform bill, the START Treaty, and the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," while the group called Brown " the biggest disappointment of the last year."

Judson Phillips, the founder of Tea Party Nation, said Corker is the group's top target, because he "has done many things to sell out the conservative Tennesseans who put him in office."

"The good news for 2012 is that so many liberals are up for reelection, Republicans are guaranteed control of the Senate and we do not have to pinch our noses this time and support a RINO to prevent liberal control of the Senate," Phillips said.

He added, "2012 will be a very good year for the Tea Party movement and RINO is on the menu!"

Tea Party members had success in a number of Republican Senate primaries in 2010, including in Utah, Florida, Nevada, and Delaware, although their results in the general election were more mixed.

I’m not for going after Brown. He’s probably the best by far we can hope for in that state.

Did anybody think he’d be another Jim DeMint?

Why is Mark Kirk missing from this list?

Perhaps it's because he's not up for election till 2016. That gives us plenty of time to find a competent, conservative replacement for him.

That's a good start but way more than that to come. We have to purge. Can't fight the Liberal Democrats when we are harboring too many Liberals ourselves.

Why is Mark Kirk missing from this list? Probably because he won't be up for reelection until 2016?

The Tea Party movement has to get smart and push for sore loser laws that prohibit these RINOs from running a general election.

I have no doubt Richard Lugar would go the same route Lisa Murkowski did if he lost in a primary.

We’ve come a long way on the Massachusetts seat from “anyone but Kennedy” to kick Brown out because he votes wrong on certain issues. Name the Republican who is going to win in Massachusetts other than Brown? Who is it? Kicking Brown out in Massachusetts is simply handing a Democrat—no, not just a Democrat, a raging liberal Democrat—a seat in the Senate. Get some “true conservative” running and they will lose to a Kennedy clone or, worse yet, another Kennedy will snake back into the Senate.

Go and watch the clips of what she said about McCain when she supported his re-election bid.

Taking out Brown will only guarantee another more repulsive Senator. A democrat... Maybe we will get lucky and barney will upgrade.

Same as Snowe.

The Pyrrhic victory is not helpful. This field is lost, stop sending good people into the grinder.

Such trivialities about candidates and polls will matter not a whit once the music stops.

Focus.

Corn h*le Cornyn is a real piece of garbage. FL’s Dem POS Bill Nelson is a go to and No RINO Jeb thank you. Hopefully Rick Scott turns out to be a real conservative. I would love to see an end to the Bush RINO machine in Florida.

Why is Mark Kirk missing from this list?

The list only includes Republicans up for reelection in 2012.

I'll give Snowe and Brown a small pass due to their states

I won't. The people in Maine, Massachusetts and the rest of the New England states need to grow up.

And yet the whole time RINO’s hurt the brand. What is the difference between a Republican and Democrat in your opinion? Wh7y should a good conservative Catholic from the Bay state vote for Brown after his DADT vote?

So be it. There is no chance of getting a conservative elected if a RINO is holding the seat.

Oh, shut it. Arizona re-elected McCain. Are you telling me that they did not vote him back in? Did Sarah Palin vote him in? Your PDS is showing.

How true. Why give some cover to rape the Constitution simply based on their geographic location.
