House GOP to vote on health repeal next week By: Carrie Budoff Brown January 3, 2011 05:02 PM EST
House Republicans will vote next week to repeal the new health care law, making good on a top-tier GOP campaign promise and setting up a showdown with President Barack Obama over his signature domestic policy achievement.
Majority Leader-elect Eric Cantor announced the timeline for considering the repeal legislation Monday: the bill will post on the Rules Committee website Monday night, the Rules Committee will meet Thursday, and the rule for the debate will be considered on the House floor Friday. The repeal vote will follow on Wednesday, Jan 12.
"Obamacare is a job killer for businesses small and large, and the top priority for House Republicans is going to be to cut spending and grow the economy and jobs, Cantor spokesman Brad Dayspring said in a statement. Further, ObamaCare failed to lower costs as the president promised that it would and does not allow people to keep the care they currently have if they like it. That is why the House will repeal it next week.
The repeal effort is not expected to succeed, given that Democrats maintain control of the Senate and the president can veto the legislation. But Republicans could embarrass the White House if they convince a number of Democrats to vote with them, and over the long term, plan to try to chip away at pieces of the law.

Good for them. Heh Heh. - Make him defend it.
It’s not just a job killer, it is a people killer.
We need to make sure people understand what this law will do to them and their families.
This should be good.
However, with the Senate still held by the Communist Party, along with the White House, there's no way it will Pass in the end.
hahaha
Let the games begin....
No doubt. The American people will ALL get the Terri Schiavo treatment if the National Socialists get their way.
He wants old white people dead. Also make sure to tax them (estate tax) heavily after they die.
The House GOP is wasting no time on this. Good for them.
They need to “axe” him for his BC too.
Desn’t matter if it passes. Let’s get the entire government on the record for the 2012 elections.
Hell yes, hit the ground running!!
He'll have to steal
Too cold for lemonade.
Suggestions?
They should do the vote for repeal on the date of the state of the union.
The state legislatures need to get on that as well.
Good for the U.S. congress, but the voice of the states will carry farther in the long run.
hot chocolate and smores
Schnapps?
:)
YEAH!
Like Rush said “bring it up every week and have Obama keep vetoing it”. I hope they’re not going to do this once, to appease the voters ,and then move on. It has to be their top priority.
