Gibbs is Resigning as White House Press Secretary

WASHINGTON – Robert Gibbs, the White House press secretary and one of the most visible and forceful advocates for President Barack Obama, is quitting his job to become an outside political adviser. The change is among the many expected in the coming days as Obama redefines his leadership team to get ready for a re-election bid and a more powerful Republican Party. Gibbs said he would be leaving the White House by early February. The top contenders to replace him are two of his deputies, Bill Burton and Josh Earnest, and Jay Carney, who is the press secretary to Vice President Joe Biden.

The move allows Gibbs to leave the grinding pace of the press secretary's job, make money giving speeches and spend more time with his family. But it also will change the dynamic of the White House, particularly combined with the coming departure of senior adviser David Axelrod, who, like Gibbs, has been at Obama's side for his entire presidential run.

“He was as inept as his boss.”

And almost as arrogant.

He has always seemed like a POMPAS JERK!
And honestly, I would say that if he had been working for a Republican.

Glad to see him leave. If O wants to improve his image he needs to get a more pleasant, likeable person in that job for starters.

All jumping ship before the investigations begin? Gibbs is and was a joke. A nerdy clown like Obongo. I hope it’s not Bill Burton, I can’t stand him. I would watch Gibbs so I could laugh at him. Burton is just an a$$hole.

“...spend more time with his family.”

Why do they always say that?

Yeah, I don’t even think this is remarkable - I don’t think they even plan on keeping that job for more than two years. I don’t know what’s so stressful about it, but that’s what they all say. Except Tony/Dana. They seemed to handle the job with remarkable aplomb. But even Tony made a joke that time about how it was his job to stand up there and lie.

I miss Tony on the radio (and on FR, remember how he would comment on his show threads?) mostly because he was such a sterling example of the happy warrior, the one who could be cordial to all, but never back down on his principles. Like... Reagan. But I think he was even smoother than Reagan.

Obama is in need of a bigger liar than Gibbs. When it comes to the BIG lies, Gibbsie just wasn’t getting it done.

He is moving himself into campaign mode now working on Obama’s re-election. he is too much of a spin master to be leaving now.

Since he is leaving, and Nancy Pelousy will not be speaker of the house, I would not be the least bit surprised if she tried to take the spot. That would put her face in the limelight more and she would love that since she loves seeing her own plastic surgeon monkey grin all the time.
