Martinez ousts board over emissions rules (NM- to scrap new cap & tax regs)
Santa Fe New Mexican ^ | January 5, 2011 | Susan Montoya Bryan/AP

Gov. Susana Martinez on Tuesday took aim at the controversial Environmental Improvement Board, announcing that she was removing all members over concerns about the board's approval in recent months of what she considers "anti-business" policies.

The board — made up of members appointed by former Gov. Bill Richardson — was at the center of a heated debate last year over whether New Mexico should regulate greenhouse-gas emissions. The board ultimately decided to approve two proposals — one from an environmental group that aimed to limit the emissions of the state's largest polluters and another from the state Environment Department that called for a regional cap-and-trade program.

Martinez said in a statement that New Mexico has been hurt by policies that discourage economic development and result in businesses fleeing the state.

"Unfortunately, the majority of EIB members have made it clear that they are more interested in advancing political ideology than implementing commonsense policies that balance economic growth with responsible stewardship in New Mexico," Martinez said.

I think she’s going to be tough, she talked tough and sensibly during the election and I see her being the best governor that NM has had in a long, long time.

Great News. So far so Good. Keep it up Susana.

Cleaning up after Richardson’s corruption and idiocy will be like unto cleaning the Augean stables.

Nice to hear some good news for a change. Another set back for the far left establishment and their willing cohorts within industry and banks that want to make money based on false science.

Obviously.

...yours is just too Long...

The problem is that with the idea in three pieces (as it should be) they'll edit out key components. Sometimes one must lay in the whole thing before they cut you off, while others all you get is a chance to repeat the pieces. It depends upon the degree of antipathy held by the interviewing and editing mediots.

Well, that’s great, but is anything being done to correct the damage? Firing the miscreants after their evildoing has become established law without fixing the damage or turning their houses into public toilets is closing the barn door after the horse is out, and would be unfortunately typical of “conservatives”.

Every state should decimate these miniEPA tyrant boards within their states. The most infamous is the California Air Resources Board. Defund them or oust them. Or drive out the loonies on those boards and commissions.

You're telling me !!!!.

Obviously the lure of stealing more wealth and/or control is too powerful for these greedy & dishonest people to give up trying to push the AGW scam.

No damage done - the rules were less than 30 days old and when adopted everyone knew they would be tossed. It was simply a political statement by the radical enviros who will no doubt use it to mischaracterize the conservative/Republican position on these issues next election cycle.

My previous comment to “Still Thinking” (”no damage done”) has to be qualified. The Environmental Department did slip through one rule calling for New Mexico to participate in a regional cap-and-trade program. That rule took effect Jan. 1. However, Martinez has called for a review of all existing and pending rules for impact on business and the economy so I suspect that will be one that fails the cut.

The above info is from today’s ABQ Journal:

Thanks Ernest, wow! I missed a lot being offline a couple days. Thanks for all or most of these:
